Can anyone explain the difference between に当たる, にしては, にとって, について, に対して, 関して ???

I am going round and round in circles on these 6 grammar points in which Bunpro seemingly uses interchangeable English concepts for them yet I get them wrong every time if I don’t get the exact one it is looking for. I am going insane. Please help.

corresponding to - ni ataru に当たる
considering x is - ni shite ha にしては
concerning x - ni totte にとって
concerning x - ni tsuite について
in regards to x - ni taishite に対して
regarding x - nikanshite 関して

My struggle is in English I could easily say

“In correspondence to your letter…” / “Considering your letter…” / “Concerning your letter…” / “In regards to your letter…” / “Regarding your letter…”

And they all mean the same thing, so how am I to distinguish them in Japanese? Many thanks

These are confusing to me as well - I use separate translations for each to try to help separate the nuance. There are times when multiple phases could be used, so it’s about how you want to convey the information.

に当たる - equivalent to (e.g. aunt is equivalent to my mother’s sister)
にしては - for (e.g. for being cheap, it tastes quite good)
にとって - as for / from the viewpoint (e.g. as for me, health is most important)
について - about / regarding (e.g. we learned about democracy in class)
に対して - towards / in contrast to (e.g. in contrast to my dad, my mom…)
に関して - related to (e.g. information related to the accident)

YES! This is a good strategy. I have done similar things in the past when I came across 2 similar words, but 6 grammer concepts was too much for me to figure out. Thanks very much!

にしては - for (It likes water a lot, for a cat. She can read quite well for 3 years old. It has a great taste for super cheap coffee.)
