宇宙戦争 - what I heard & my guess

私たちは走りました。しかし、あまりの恐ろしさに膝ががくがくし、すぐに転んでしまいます。

遠くにあるコンクリート造りの白い家が同じように白い煙となって消えるのが見えました。緑の光線？はあんな遠くまで届くのです。しかもコンクリートまで熔かしてしまうのであれば、どこに隠れていても意味がありません。

「いやいや、わしが今関わっている事件は、そんな血なまぐさい事件ではないよ。極めてシンプルな単純な事件なので、我々警察だけで解決できると信じているだがね。」

”By the way, is that so?. What kind of case was that really bothersome case? We don’t want to become involved with another murder case!”

”No, no, the case I’m involved with now is not that bloody. Because it’s such an exceedingly simple and straightforward case, I believe we can solve it just by being police officers.”

ところで総監、そのとても面倒な事件とはどんな事件なのですか。
私たちはもう殺人事件には関わりあいになりたくありませんよ。
いやいや、わしが今かかわっている事件はそんな血なまぐさい事件ではないよ。
きわめてシンプルな単純な事件なのでわれわれ警察だけで解決できると信じているのだがね。

Although not strictly a famous book, this series has a sub-series of famous tales from around the world, so I thought this one focusing on Greek mythology would make a cool listen! I listened to the whole thing before bed last night and can highly recommend it :sweat_smile:. ギリシャ神話

My understanding

A long, long, long time ago, the world did not exist. In the darkness was nothing but an egg-like body quietly packed together. When the world was born, a goddess was created, who was Gaia.

The last snippet was easier to understand than some of the others. But Im not sure if I got the meaning of the second sentence right.

I think this was said

昔々その又昔、世界には何もありませんでした。
暗闇が卵の中身のようにドロドロとした物を静かに包んでいるだけでした。
最初に生まれたのは母なる女神ガイアでした。

My translation

A long long time ago there was nothing in the world.
Only the darkness quietly enveloped it like the inside of a ドロドロ egg.
First the mother goddess Gaia was born.

Even though I thought I know the word ドロドロ I could not quite remember the correct meaning.

昔々のそのまた昔、世界にはまだなにもありませんでした。暗闇が卵の中身のようにドロドロとしていたものを、静かに（包んでいる？）だけでした。最初に生まれたのは母（？）ガイア？でした。

Meaning

A long long time ago, there was nothing in the world. The darkness was thick like the inside of an egg, but it was just quietly (wrapped?) around (the earth). The first one to be born was (?) Gaia.

昔々のそなまた昔、世界にはまだ何もありませんでした。暗闇がたまごの中身のようにどろどろとしたものを、静かに包んでいるだけでした。最初に生まれたのは母なる女神「ガイヤ」でした。

My translation

A long long time ago, there wasn’t anything in the world yet. There was only darkness that quietly wrapped around a viscous substance, like the inside of an egg. The first to be born was Gaia, who was to become the mother goddess.

Not sure about the translation of the second sentence, it was tricky :thinking:

A bit of a slower paced one today with some more daily language that I think might provide a good challenge for anyone around the high N4 level that has a good vocabulary as well. However the speaker does have a bit of a unique pronunciation style which might make certain bits tricky! はつ恋

What I heard

父は昨日のパーティーの様子を詳しく私に話させた。父と私は（奇妙な?）関係だった。父は私の教育のことには一切口を出さなかったし、私の（？？？）くれた。しかも、私にたいしてはいつもとても丁寧だった。

Meaning

My dad had me tell him about yesterday’s party. My relationship between my dad and I was(strange?). My dad didn’t have any saying in my education, (?). And still, he was very polite to me.

My understanding

On that day, the Gods said “The time has come, from now on, the dawn will be Kebera’s, noon will be Ras, and evening will be (someone)'s”. After that the Gods became an shiny egg-like shape and (did something) over the water
