Particle Swapping
Structure:
Noun + の + Verb
In this quiz sentence:
友達:「その服良いね!」僕:「僕____着ている服はお兄ちゃんのなんだ。」
Could someone please explain how this use of の is different from the possessive の?
With possessive の, the meaning of the resulting sentence would be different.
の subject marker inside a clause marks the subject doing the action:
僕の着ている服は…
the clothes that I am wearing are…
の possessive would mark possession:
○○が着ている僕の服は…
my clothes that ○○ is wearing are…
Makes sense, thanks!
