In this quiz sentence:
友達:「その服良いね!」僕:「僕____着ている服はお兄ちゃんのなんだ。」
Could someone please explain how this use of の is different from the possessive の?

With possessive の, the meaning of the resulting sentence would be different.

の subject marker inside a clause marks the subject doing the action:

着ている服は…
the clothes that I am wearing are…

の possessive would mark possession:

○○が着ている僕服は…
my clothes that ○○ is wearing are…
