Feedback - Suggested Improvements/Feature Request

Personally I think it is a little bit tough with the numbers represented as a whole on the right hand side, and it being impossible to tell how many completed items come from grammar and how many completed items come from vocabulary in that view. If I had to suggest a fix myself, maybe slightly staggering the bars, so grammar appears in the background above (or below) vocabulary, and you can see each of their individual progress toward 100%. Will suggest it to the Development team.

Maybe this is outside the scope of BunPro, but coming from a certain owl application recently, one thing I miss is being able to be quizzed on sentences.

For instance;
Write: My dog is big

Then I would need to write this out; or since languages can be extremely nuanced, have a collection of options that I must click in order to construct the sentence from a bank of vocab and particles scattered in a random order.

From a technical perspective, BP has a massive collection of sentences already, re-using these as a blueprint but having users assemble them themselves would be valuable to me as I am also practicing sentence structure.

We have discussed this in the past. It is not quite so easy to set up, as these types of review items need to be manually constructed regardless of whether the sentences already exist in the first place. We are always discussing new ways to recycle our existing content library in ways that can benefit our users though, and whether they would fit within the scope of Bunpro. So there’s always a chance that we will do something like this in the future.

Any update on a setting to allow continued SRS past “Mastered”?

No update at this present time. But I will make another mention of it to the team. I agree that it is a useful feature :+1:

@Jake mentioned back in July that this had been implemented, but I guess hasn’t been released yet? Master SRS Interval Customization

Not sure if this has been requested yet so sorry if this is a duplicate, but now that custom decks are a thing, in Deck Settings, it would be great to add a JLPT option in Sorting Order similar to what is used in Bunpro’s Search: image

Ah, I didn’t know Jake had already let this feature out of the bag . Yep, it is something we have hiding in the back end waiting for release soon .

@nminer Basically exactly the same function within the deck settings that there is within search? Not a bad idea! I will mention it to the team.

Mastery is truly subjective. :face_with_monocle:

It seems like the N2 〜もしない grammar point is not in Bunpro yet
Perhaps can be added? Thanks

Apologies in advance if the grammar point is already there, but I’ve been searching for it and it’s not coming up.

I don’t get the point of XP. It just seems irrelevant. Our progress seems to be measured by the progress bars. Not really seeing where the XP really matter.

Hi there and thanks for getting in touch! This gramamr point is already planned for the near future. We will be combining it with ~もしないで like many other resources do. In future, you can find out what grammar points that we have in our schedule to make, and also request ones that aren’t there in this thread here.

Hi there, and thanks for expressing your concern! The XP contributes to your level, while the progress bar expresses how far you are through any given JLPT level. For example, if you were finished N5, the progress bar for N5 would be full, but as you progress through different levels of mastery with N5 reviews, your level will still continue to go up. This would also reflect in the progress bar, but only as a slight color change.

I hope this answer helps and that you continue to enjoy using Bunpro!

Brilliant, thank you very much!

Thanks for the information about XP. I understand that xp contributes to my level. However I don’t see my level as being relevant. It is the progression towards mastery that seems to be most important. I’m not sure what my level is actually telling me.

I agree. To further compound the issue, if you reset your grammar/vocab , your level goes away too. Your level is like water. It’s an anti-user approach that doesn’t honor the time they spent.

I feel like the English is misleading here. The English reads as if the pinning is what the whole company did, not the scandal, and the way it’s translated lines up with one of the main examples on the grammar page that use ぐるみで. Am I misunderstanding something?

Hi there and thanks for pointing out the poor-quality translation. I have just changed it to this so that it better reflects the Japanese!

‘Something like pinning a company-wide scandal on one employee and then cornering him into taking his own life in addition to that, what a cruel organization!’

In addition to something that you see on the site, other users are also able to see your level on the forum, which gives users a sense of how long someone has been using Bunpro. Due to this it can be helpful for when higher level users are helping out answering questions of lower level users. Of course you can hide this though if you do not wish other users to see your level.

Is it possible to add the “bunpro summary” when learning vocab to the android app? This feature has been on the website for a while now, but still missing on the app.
