Anyone else getting stuck trying to load Special menu under Content to Cram?
All the other menus (Vocab, etc) work fine.
I’m trying to access Ghosts and can’t get past this sticking point.
I’m using updated Chrome, have tried logging out/in, hard refresh, etc.

I feel that accessing my Ghosts is too convoluted. So many clicks to load them into a Cram session.
They’re the points I have the most trouble with, so why isn’t a simple browse/review of them just a click away? You have the nice Ghost icon. Let me click on it and get to my Ghosts.

There’s a setting here to configure furigana display based on WaniKani progress, but also if you drill into the Update Settings menu above it, there’s a switch in there that seems to do exactly the same thing. Is there a difference between them?

My drill-down one was off, but I’ve set it to on now, to match the visible one here.

Some clarity needed here perhaps?

N.B. this is on the web UI, not the iOS app.

When searching for vocab, is it possible to filter for words in the bunpro vocab decks?

Feature request:

Would it be possible to make vacation mode automatically kick in after a certain time without doing reviews? It would be a great safety mechanism in case you forget to enable it!

I really love the ability to hide/show translations in Bunpro as I can listen to a sentence before reading it. That said, I’ve noticed that scrolling the page while hiding Translations will make my laptop’s fans kick in a little harder.

Maybe it’s from the CSS blur? If there was an option to “cover up” the translations rather than blur them I’d certainly switch to that.

For vocab in the A deck (not sure if this is the right word for it, e.g. ほのぼの、バラバラ) with example sentences, can the reviews show the sentences? Using reveal and grade, only the word shows up but it would be helpful if an example sentence is included as well.

While there are grammr tabs specific to conjugations of verb and adj forms, I would love it if under the verb itself (or adjectives) it also gave you a simple two/three column list of the conjugations, especially since several of the examples are conjugated forms.

On a side note, when a word is typically written in kana, making that clearer on the app. For instance someone had a card screenshot for そう which I can only assume came from the computer webpage listing that it is most often written with kana, while the app page didn’t mention it at all.

I wanna also say that more settings on when ghosts are created would be nice. Something like what Flash3001 suggested, or even just as simple as “Minimum level to create ghosts” so that we don’t just create a bunch of ghosts on Beginner 1 of an item.

I personally feel ghost’s don’t really help me when I am just starting a world / grammar item, and that I need a few hours or days to get the item to initially stick in my head.

Thanks for the recent work on the iOS app guys - it looks like it’s getting a good bit better. Here are a few small things I think could be improved:

  • Hovering over kanji with your cursor on iPad doesn’t show furigana
  • Hitting backspace on a wrong answer only removes the final character instead of the entire answer like on web. This can slow down reviewing a good bit (e.g. when you have to try like 10 synonyms for the word “group”).
  • On web, answering a single word vocab card (that has no example sentence) usually reveals the furigana on the word after answering so you can check you knew the pronunciation. (Question style: Translate, Answer style: Manual). This happens even for words where the furigana would ordinarily be hidden. But on the iOS app, the furigana isn’t being displayed above answers on these cards. So it is not at all obvious what the pronunciation of the word is. This slows down reviews by quite a lot.
  • It seems to be impossible to get furigana to appear on the title of the info page for vocab
  • Reviewing speed could increase a bit if some of the hot keys got brought over from the web interface
  • It would be helpful if the text on cards during reviews was selectable
  • The bug report button is quite hidden

Yes, sorry. While reviewing on web, the bug report button is right in the bottom righthand corner of the screen. But in the iOS app, it’s a little harder to find if you didn’t know where it is (Settings > Scroll to the bottom). :slight_smile:

Could we get the translate flash card review style to include a context sentence? Sometimes there are words I only want to recognize (vs recall) so I use that mode, but I also like to see different uses over time so the example sentences are helpful.

A suggestion:

I’d love to have the ability to view all vocab considered common regardless of the JLTP level that it is considered to belong to. For instance, the top N-thousand anime words, or Netflix words, or even just the top over-all common words.

As a workaround, I could import the word lists as custom decks. Would it be possible to know what source has been used for the data?

There is an API key provided in settings, and I was wondering if it would be possible for you guys to add the option to use that API key in order to return a list of vocab I have studied and a separate list of grammar points I have studied. I want to use this data together with an AI to do some exercises.

For example one of the activities I do is the AI gives me sentences in English and I translate them into Japanese. Currently it can only give me random stuff from the level I told it, but if I could provide the AI with a list of words or grammar points that I have already studied than it could use that data to give me sentences based on that. And depending on how much data is returned from the API, possibly I could target stuff that I have studied recently rather than getting random grammar points. Doing random ones is fine but it would be great to use the data from Bunpro to target areas where I’m struggling. For example if I have any ghosts, I could have the AI target those ghosts and give me some exercises to do.

Or another example is I could simply chat with the AI and it could use the provided vocab/grammar data in order to do I+1 conversation where it targets what I have already learned and steadily introduces new vocab to prompt learning words in context through conversation.

Or I could use the data for other stuff, like generating a chart of which kanji I know based on vocab I have studied. Quite frankly there are a lot of things that could be done with this data.

I would save the data locally so that I don’t call the API every single time, I understand that would be expensive for you guys.

This is an expected meaning that is covered by the たら grammar point however I’ll keep this suggestion in mind in the future as perhaps the meaning is not immediately clear when first coming across it, along with であれば.

Hey, I was thinking it would be great to add the grammar point V+ようにはいかない. I have met this grammar pattern quite a lot yet struggled to find websites addressing it (I had to use ChatGPT to explain it to me), so that would be great be able to practice it on the app !

A way to set the “level you’re working towards” across the whole site.
So if you want to study for say N3, you just select N3 from the 5 options and automatically get your remaining vocab and grammar from the relevant N5, N4 and N3 decks queued in “Learn” (in that order), and you are only tested on example sentences up to your stated level.

Suggestion to include every vocab translation used in example sentences in Bunpro’s definitions of the relevant word.
For example, it’s currently basically impossible to get reviews like this correct since you’ve never seen that translation before and may well never see it again (after slaying the ghost generated after getting the sentence wrong):
