Feedback - Suggested Improvements/Feature Request

Maybe I’m alone in this but when doing reviews it would be awesome to have a little “flag” icon which would note the grammar rule in a “to further study area” … I’ll explain because I don’t think I’m articulating well haha

When I do reviews I keep a note of any rules that took a little while to recall or that I don’t have confidence in actively using in conversation. These are rules that I passed on the review but would like to explore more outside of Bunpro - IE Chat GPT or using in conversations with native speakers.

If there was a way of “flagging/noting” these rules so that later in the day I can see a list of areas to focus on it would be very helpful.

I can just keep a list in my notebook so no issues if this is not adopted

This would be very handy. What I’ve been doing lately is setting my “low confidence” grammar back to beginner or adept, because then at least I can see those in a list/category and keep track of them. I also made a notes page on my phone for grammar points but that’s proved a bit harder to keep track of everything (as it gets longer and more confusing).

Is their a timeline for when audio for vocab will play on mobile app? Primarily study in my phone and rarely have access to a computer so being able to hear the vocab would be a great addition so I can shadow what I hear.

When I do Grammer it plays automatically but not for the Vocab.

In case it’s useful, what I’ve been doing meanwhile as a workaround, is to use the ‘web app’ version instead. What I mean is opening in the phone the Bunpro website in Chrome, and from the Chrome menu selecting ‘Add to home screen’, so it opens it as an app, without Chrome headers or other stuff.

In that way is quite similar to using the actual Android app, while with this the audio for vocabs during reviews actually play. There are just some differences on the UI but now I even like it more - the only drawback is that it doesn’t allow gestures for card-type reviews.

For certain flashcards like “背が高い” meaning “tall” in referring to a person, I wish the literal translation was also given. It was very confusing to remember “背が” after I looked up the meaning of the kanji and saw it referred to STATURE and so the more literal translation being “Tall stature”, its been a whole lot easier to remember becuase I know WHY it is that way

Didn’t even think of using the site on my phone, I’ll have to give it a shot and see how switching over works. Thanks mang

Don’t know if this is possible but with one of the apps I use, Nihongo Lessons formerly Japanese Level Up, the example sentences you get only use words you’ve already learned. Anyway this could be implemented here.

The iOS app is great but I am considering moving back to the web app for a while.

There seem to be a few features missing that are quite valuable to me:

  • alternate between male and female voice
  • voice speed
  • ability to select text for pasting into other apps
  • grammar explanations when tapping on parts of the cloze question

Hope we see more feature parity soon!

List actions - Mark as Mastered

Sorry if this is already a thing. I wasn’t able to find it if it was.

Rather than only being able to mark items as mastered individually as they come up in lessons, it’d be nice (especially for vocab) to be able to go through the whole list and mark them as mastered in there. With the way lessons are presented in amounts of the batch size, it takes you on a bit of a runaround when you mark something in your batch as mastered. So, this would alleviate that (small) hassle and would be a significant overall timesaver.

I would like to suggest the ability to add images to the notes section of each review item. I find having a picture of the noun in question or a screenshot of an anime with subtitles including the current grammar point would help me remember a lot better. The links aren’t enough, I don’t want to have to click to a separate tab just to see the image, it should be right there.

N4 Grammar Lesson 8: たら Structure Revision

The Structure listed for たら is as follows:

Verb[た]+
[い]Adjective[た]+
[な]Adjective + だった +
Noun + だった +

For い adjectives, the い is removed, and replaced with かっ. With the way it is currently listed, it suggests that something like 長いたら would be correct grammar here, which is incorrect.

That notation, like the verb one, is saying to put the い Adjective into た form. When it is just straight adding, we use the + like in the な Adjective one.

You’ve misunderstood their formatting. Click on the “i” after structure, you’ll see it’s referring to the た-form for adjectives.
So nothing to adjust in the structure section.

Edit: just spotted the note section, trying it now.

Can we please have a space in each grammar point for our “own notes”?

Sometimes I come across a way of explaining a point that works well for me and if I could write it down on the info page then I could have a reminder when I get a card wrong and have to open the info.

On the Stats page, it would clearer to use tags in the popups (adept, seasoned etc.) instead of a number. For example, instead of 12, use “master”. Have a nice day.

Still waiting for the ability to cram missed items from custom crams:

It would be very helpful for when I set up large cram sets, like doing the entire N4 or N5 vocab deck

An option to hide the number of due reviews would be cool. I had a busy few days recently and I definitely find I get a bit demotivating when I see the reviews start to stack up (the higher I see it climb the less I feel like tackling it!).

It’s not exactly the same, but within your Quiz Settings (accessible on Quiz/Reviews) you can set a Session Review Limit, which will create batches of how many items you study per session.

Won’t take away the bite of having a big number show up on your screen, however it’ll help you manage the workload better and make progress.

To be honest, I can’t actually find the page you’re on at all. Is that Cram mode? I can’t see anything to do with “Quiz” anywhere, which is so strange. I’m tired though so I’ll have another look in the morning

It’s available inside of Quiz! (When you click the Review button)
