Funny grammar じわじわ

Today at a progress meeting I heard a colleague say:

あのじわじわじわじわ進んでまして

I discovered that 「じわじわ」 is similar to 「どんどん」 and 「だんだん」, is used to express that something is progressively advancing, but sloooowly.

I love these Japanese onomatopeias with repeated sounds, sounds so funny.

Indeed!

I’ve suggested a 擬態語/擬音語 deck and, in the Shiritori OP, I’m currently playing just with this kind of words. They’re a whole new world, quite difficult to master.

じわじわ行っても頑張ろう!
