I noticed the grammar point and structure only uses verbs but Wasabi link states:
When you use nouns and na-adjectives, you need to attach だ like 春だと.
and Tae Kim also states:
The natural conditional is used by appending 「と」 for verbs and i-adjectives or 「だと」 for nouns and na-adjectives.
A Dictionary of Basic Japanese Grammar also uses a noun in one example.
Perhaps these could be included in examples sentences/structure?
Hey
Thank you for noticing it!
If it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t realize that we haven’t added examples for nouns and adjectives!
We will likely add those as separate grammar point, for the time being I will add information that it can be also used with nouns and adjectives!
Thank you!
What’s the main differences between this and なら?
how do I know when と means if, when or and?
Usually based on context, in some of the examples there is a comma after と.
勉強をすると、テストは簡単になる。
この石を磨くと 、綺麗になる。
ここから見ると 、富士山が全然見えない。
You wouldn’t use a comma if you are using と to join nouns.
と can be used more than once when used to mean ‘and’, unlike in the conditional と.
バナナとリンゴとオレンジとか
thank you, explained very clearly…
Is it something like zero conditional in English, when both clauses are in present simple?
If I drink too much coffee, I can’t sleep at night.
コーヒーを飲みすぎると、夜に寝ない。
If you heat ice, it melts.
氷を温めると、溶ける。
When the sun goes down, it gets dark.
日が落ちると、暗くなる。
