(A) てはかなわない is an old-fashioned expression used to indicate the displeasure of the speaker/writer with (A). こう and こんなに are often used when (A) is an adjective.

Hey, I have a question about this point. In the textbook I’m working through, this was listed as てかなわない (without は).

As far as I can see they are the same grammar point or at least have the same meaning, but I was keen to understand if there is any nuance? Is the は just adding extra emphasis potentially?

Any extra info would be useful, thanks!
