I added many lessons today for WK most of them are vocabs, but new kanji hasn’t come yet :disappointed_relieved:

  • As for BP, I have killed most of my ghosts, reviews are greatly reduced so it’s time to add new lessons.
  • No new lessons on iKnow since I added too many lessons on WK.
  • Recently I spent most of my time on delvin, trying to cover all N5 vocabs. Already 231 studied, 140 left to go.

I’ve also tried using FluentU apps for two days, but I couldn’t see any benefits doing that. Uninstalled it and canceled my trial subscription. I’d rather use my time for delvin. I hate the robotic text-to-speech voice and it’s not structured based on JLPT level. And…it’s too expensive. :grin:

For vocabulary builder, I’ll stick to delvin and iKnow for the time being.

Late check-in as always.

Grammar:
Did my BP reviews- Still getting 70% but that means for the most part I’m getting stuff right and my weak points are being found. So I’m happy.

I’m on the last section of 完全マスターN2文法 but for the most part it seems more like review of N5-N3 stuff, such as the uses of the present/past/continuous present forms, ていく vs てくる、は vs が etc. So I’m switching my daily focus to reading/learning vocabulary. I’m also getting a little tired of studying grammar from a book every day anyways, so I’ve been watching more 日本語の森。Finished the “Grammar Points that Frequently Appear” playlist. It only covered keigo/sonkeigo and the passive/causative forms though. I wish it was longer because it really was helpful! If anyone else has any good N2 channels please let me know! :slight_smile:

Vocabulary:
I have 700 words left for N1 for Torii, so at this rate I’ll finish before the end of March!
I’ve added exactly 850 words in FloFlo at this point and I’m far from done. Between the two books I’m reading, the manga series I’m reading, the WK book club book I’m pre-studying for, and the next book I plan on reading that I’m pre-studying for…I’m drowning in new words lol. I’m started to be a lot more restrictive of which words to add. Only ones that appear several times, or words I really like. I recently stumbled upon 読み耽る and just had to add it.

Listening
I realize I’m lacking a lot in listening practice. I’ve recently started watching the live-action version of Nodame Cantabile without subtitles, as well as listening to the Nihongo Con Teppei podcast on my commute. The podcast is super easy to the point that I have to speed it up because he talks too slow. He also repeats himself a lot. He’s fun to listen to though, especially when he gets on a tangent. On the other hand, the drama is nearly incomprehensible, and frequently I’m wondering why the plot is going the way it is. Also the acting is so bad it’s hilarious. I’m gonna 我慢 though, because my listening really is what I’m most worried about for the test.

I spent a long weekend with a friend, but I managed to keep my BP streak even if it only meant doing 1 review. So now I have the 60 streak badge since a couple of days, and I got the Everest badge. :slight_smile:

I think I might try cramming all of N5 the next couple of days.

I neglected WK however. I managed to reduce away the mountain of reviews before going to my friend now I have 80ish reviews waiting. I’ll probably do them today so I can start adding lessons again.

Just barely finish WK and BP, nothing more. Accuracy dropped because my mind was not at present moment, couldn’t think clearly :disappointed_relieved:
Got urgent notice at work so I had to finish them before anything else.

My BP reviews have really fallen far. I think I had like 3 reviews yesterday. Did about 30 WK reviews and right after I post this I’m off to slay the 70ish review pile.

Yesterday: BP reviews done. Also powered through all WK reviews and did an evening session for WK reviews. Very nice. Plus I added 5 N5 words on Torii. If I keep doing that every day, I will start learning all N5 words that WK doesn’t have by the end of March.

Lots of working overtime, no time for other reviews. Only did WK and BP today.
Neglecting reverse WK apps, I’ll do them when I had time. Piled up to more than 100 :sweat_smile:

Every time I come here it feels like I’m being greeted by the same 150 reviews and I never manage to get them down to 0. Life has been very busy the last two weeks but at least I finished an important project at work this week and I‘ll be flying to Japan next week so I have 0 reasons to complain. 900 Anki reviews waiting for me, WK in vacation mode… but studying has its ups and downs for me when life gets in the way, that’s just what it is.

Even if I can’t keep up with you guys here at the moment, it is nice knowing that you are all here and keep on fighting your way down to 0 BP reviews every day. One day I want to be able to join you and also get down to 0 reviews consistently. Until then, you’ll all be my motivation, so keep on fighting please :slightly_smiling_face::+1:

Had about 6 BP reviews to get to 0 yesterday. Went through all WK reviews and added 15 new lessons (3 kanji and 12 vocab). I realized I’d finally gotten through all level 8 vocab, so now only level 9 items in my lesson queue!

Also leveled to 25 here today! Woop woop!

Also more words on Torii. I think I ended up adding 10ish yesterday. Somehow Torii feels to easy to add right now, I’ll finish of N5 vocab earlier than planned at this rate. Also archiving those I’ve gotten from other places. Like あそこ because BP, and 黄色い for 黄色 on WK. (I don’t feel it is necessary to cram in that it is an い adjective quite that much. I did keep つける, aka 点ける from WK, because seeing it like that with only kana is very different.

150 BP reviews at a time does sound very daunting…

I never did the archiving. Personally, I quite liked reinforcing words I already knew. It actually feels great when words I’ve learnt on Torii pop up on Wanikani and/or Bunpro. One did today and made me go “yes!”. Not archiving words was why I sped through N5 on Torii, as I was only adding one or two new words to me for each big batch… I’ve slowed down a lot now I’m on the N4 vocab, as there are less I’m familiar with.

Haven’t added any new lessons on BP for ages… I still do my reviews all the time and some finally went over into the Steak 10 column.

Did WK and BP and added 3 new lessons since reviews count are low now.
That’s about it. I fall behind on KW, KameSame, iKnow and Delvin. I don’t even have time to open books. I’ll do more when I have more time.

I get that. Some words I’m archiving I’ve known for almost ten years (I did about a year of Japanese classes almost ten years ago). It isn’t worth having あそこ in SRS for me, although I did let it be on BP. But I couldn’t face doing it again on Torii, haha. I’ve gone through 56 items on Torii and only archived 4 of those, most of them friends of あそこ (aka そこ and so on).

Did reviews on BP, WK, and Torii yesterday. Suddenly having 20+ reviews on Torii, lol, I forgot that would start happening if I just add and add on Torii. But then it does count JP to EN and EN to JP as two separate reviews.

Added 15 lessons on WK (3 kanji, 12 vocab). I now have two vocab lessons for every kanji lesson so I think I’ll need to shift my number of kanji vs vocab lessons until I unlock more vocab. Added around 10 lesson on Torii (I say around because I might have archived one or two in the two 5-lesson batches).

This morning it now only says one review on BP next day. I guess it is either time to start adding a lesson every day of N4 or to start cramming N5.

I’ll take it slow since I still have to work overtime, can only do them while commuting Not adding lessons on BP as reviews has increased again.

It’s good to know I’m still progressing :grin:

I have Study Streak 64. We’ll see in 6 days if I still haven’t broken my Study Streak, if there is 100 Study Streak badge :laughing:

Good afternoon!

  • I just zeroed my BP review again today (as always everyday so far).
  • I haven’t added lessons since my last post here, despite my BP 1,2,3,4 SRS being empty. C’est la vie!
  • I also zeroed my WK reviews and Kitsun reviews and added lessons on each of them. We’ll see if I could level up from WK lvl 24 to WK lvl 25 before March 15th, 2019 despite of having to go back and forth to the hospital etc for over two weeks and more still to take care of someone close to me (my family whose details I don’t expose in the internet) who will have tumor surgery next week on Thursday.
  • I just levelled up from BP lvl 29 to BP lvl 30. I still found it’s hard to believe that I’m not level 5 or 15 or so. To me, it always felt like I just subscribed to BP yesterday.

Reviews on BP, WK, and Torii yesterday. Added 10-ish lessons on Torii (I archived 1-2) and only 5 lessons on WK because I got to those lessons late. Today I’ll do WK lessons first and Torii lessons second.

I keep on doing my reviews, but have been slow on adding stuff recently. Been feeling overall tired. Added my first items here on Bunpro in over a week (which I only added since they looked easy/similar to previous items). Wanikani is going slow, finally added the last kanji from my level, it’s likely to be my slowest level so far. Adding vocab on wanikani is so much easier than adding kanji… and Torii is going slow too, adding a lot less than before, but still trying to add something when I can be bothered. I think with the kanji on KW, I really need to hit my 4 and 8 hour initial review sessions, as I need a few iterations to stick them in place, as I don’t do so good at coming up with something to remember them by, I tend to get the readings messed up between kanji of the same level.

Long time no update. Finally added the last grammar points in Genki! Gonna give them a day or two to stick in my memory and then move on to Tobira.

I can finally make time for doing reviews and reading.

  • 3 mistakes on そんなに、し (I didn’t know that it can be used as “and” - is that the same as で?)、and passive voice.
  • Made lots of ghosts, but I added 3 new lessons anyway :sweat_smile:
  • I still have a lot of lessons on WK, but going to take it slow since vocabulary words acquisition will be taking more time than doing the kanji. Only added 15 lessons, all are vocabulary words from previous level.
  • Going to do delvin today, I still have a lot of N5 listening to cover.
