BP reviews. Did one 30ish review session on WK. Still a big pile there.
Her English is excellent, so her videos are great for getting a native speaker’s impression for how different words and phrasings “feel” in Japanese. Her videos are long though, so I tend to listen at 1.25 or 1.5 speed
Also, I’d recommend using 文プロ to get the hang of the grammar instead of waiting 'til after
より in particular is much easier to wrap your head around if you think of it like a particle, just like は・が・から, etc.
Whatever より attaches to, the statement that follows ◯より is interpreted as, “Compared to ◯, …”
しか is the same way; I used to struggle with it a lot until I realized it’s just another particle. ◯しか~ない is simply saying, “Excepting ◯, … will not/cannot/is not,” or, in more natural English: “With the exception of ◯, … will not/cannot/is not.”
Yeah going through N2 on Bunpro before doing 完全マスター has been so helpful! It’s like a brief exposure before getting into the nitty-gritty.
こんにちは!
- Yay! I added three lessons each week in February! But then when I looked at my stats, wrong! That was only my feeling! I only added 6 lessons on Feb ’19 before current date. Hark!
- I added lots of lessons on WK. Will level up from 23 to 24 in 3-6 days if no current kanji falls back to lower Apprentice level. How many was lots? Looking from my heatmap stats, one day I added 38 lessons but mostly vocabs only lessons when I usually only added 6 lessons maximum a day. I haven’t learned at least 13 kanji from my current WK level yet, but I finished learning all related vocabs from level 22 and 23. Let’s see if I can really make it
or I got crushed by hyperactive children shouting around me. Why kids have so much energies! - I have my two new eyeglasses now. I’m ready to read grammar books and references again. so happy.
- I just added 3 lessons about 必要、て来る、といいです。
- Study Streak 82.
- And about みたいに・みたいな VS ような・ように I haven’t read about it yet.
- My badge on my Profile changed from 60 streak to 40K referring to my total XP 40500. And I levelled up to 28 though I’m not so confident about my level.
- About yomi-chan and chrome and anki, seems I’ve never opened chrome & anki anymore these past weeks. My Mac sometimes flickers if it loads too heavy programs for a long time and/or Chrome seems to drain my battery faster than Safari (It could flicker like this too if I watch youtube too long). The last time I set yomichan was until I could hover the kanji while pressing shift and successfully showed the kanji explanation but that’s about it, I haven’t successfully import my mining data on anki although my anki opened in the background and that localhost:(port I don’t currently remember because I don’t want to open Chrome and Anki right now) was also on. I’ve been on Kitsun.io everyday now. I do Mining mostly using Dictionary feature, so I can just be on Kitsun when Kitsun fetches data from Jisho and I can generate a card automagically from there after I do mining from my Japanese media consumption activity. I also put my leeches on my Mining Deck on Kitsun, hence I don’t plan to share this deck.
- Oh, did I say I zeroed BP, WK, and Kitsun? Oh yes. On Kitsun, I have these decks (based on my priority): Mining, 10k Kitsun Optimized, Katakana 4.5k, Genki Complete Vocab, Noragami vol. 1, Kitsun JLPT N5, Kitsun JLPT N4. How many was that? 7 decks! But my priority is still WK & BP and Mining, of course. In other words, I don’t push myself to always add lessons on those decks even when they’re available, though I could do that, but I don’t want to overwhelm myself with so many apprentice items scattered around.
Snow day!!!
Had the day off work today so I too really ‘discovered’ japanese ammo for the first time today. Really helpful to learn all the nuances and pick up some periphery info on the way but I cant listen to too much at a time lest it throws my fragile brain into chaos.
60 day streak as well!
Zero:d BP, because like 15ish reviews as normal. (I only do BP once a day especially now that I’m not currently adding lessons.) I also did a larger review session on WK, but only one so not down to 0 there yet.
Also it seems I didn’t get started with iTalki/speaking practice in February. Tomorrow I go to visit a friend for a long weekend and won’t have time. I’ll make sure to set up a 2-3 a week for March though, I suppose.
Doing WK and BP on phone. Lots of going to different places today. My accuracy dropped, I don’t like doing grammar on phone - lots of typing mistakes
Didn’t add new lessons on WK, had too many tasks to do today so I only have little brain energy left tonight. My streak chart is looking good, but there’s still too much reviews on one day so I’ll wait before adding new lessons.
Missed out on the weekend (and on Monday, since it was a long weekend) but hit yesterday and today. I’m starting on the grammar points for Chapter 23 of Genki: Did Causative-passive yesterday and ても today. Last chapter! I’m super psyched to move on to Tobira in March.
My current tactic is going through the example sentences. But if I feel I didn’t understand one/some of the sentences, I start to look at the linked references. Had to do that for 2 of the 3 new points I added yesterday. And did a little more reading on one of them today. It’s happening more often now.
Welcome back!!
WK leveled up. No mistake today on BP…yay!
- Still confusing てくる and ていく, I found one example sentence also have both correct which further confuses me
- Not going to add new lessons yet, still have too many reviews. I’ll add 15 lessons on WK instead.
Cutting my anime consumption and replacing it by watching Hollywood movies one seems to be more relaxing for me, maybe because I can passively watch Hollywood movies without thinking about grammar
FOR 84+ DAYS I HAVE
I just hate that one spot!
Added 20 new lessons on WK and 20 new words on iKnow. A lot of familiar words on iKnow.
As for BP, still a lot of ghosts
- Confusing ように/ような with そうに/そうな
- ていく, can also mean “to start”, mistaken it for 始める
Found supernative.tv for listening practice, it’s really good, but I wish they had compiled based on JLPT levels instead of randomly picked clips.
Recently, this one has been killing me in my reviews… it seems like it combines 5 of my recently learnt grammar points together >_<
…and I only just realised, when I didn’t know what grammar point it was testing, that my missing が was just the normal particle が, not some form of the がる item I’m also being tested on a lot recently, as that often conjugates… this probably goes back to my base problem with こと…
Unlocked all radicals on WK, but not all kanji unlocked yet.
- Still have ghosts for ように/ような
- I’ll add new lessons today since the a lot of review streaks moved to 9 streaks. I’m halfway finishing N4
Found a similar site for listening, I think it’s better because it is compiled based on JLPT level: delvinlanguage.com
The ones that combine like 5 grammar points are the worst. Those pesky multiply conjugated Japanese verbs.
I believe delvin is made by the same people and is basically the precursor for supernative. Pretty sure they use the same video clip archive. Haven’t tried delvin myself yet since I like the level of the clips I’m seeing but perhaps I should give it a try too!
Is that so? I like the way it is organized by JLPT levels. But the SRS is a bit strange, it repeats multiple times before it’s gone. I don’t know if it’s a bug or it’s just the way it behaves.
I don’t know why this is wrong
Level up on WK.
Level up on BP.
I hadn’t added any new grammar for a week or two and have just barely been doing reviews but I broke that streak by adding three new grammar points today! Woo! Just need to keep that up during the work week…
Slowed down on WK, has too many apprentices already. I’ll add only 5 lessons today.
No mistake on BP, I’ll add three new lessons. It’s a slow day, I’ll do more delvin. Still have 300+ items more on N5. Seems like my listening skill is not that great, can’t pick up あなた、体 and many more. They talked too fast
I have finished N5 on iKnow, I’ll move on to N4 and core step 6.
こんにちは
