and by the way how can i read explanations in japanese while reviewing?
Regarding your first question: Go to your settings > General > Hide English Yes/No & Listening Mode On/Off:
According to your screenshot, you’re currently hiding English + activated the Listening Mode to hide Japanese.
Regarding that one: I’m not sure if any explanation is written in Japanese. You can change the language in your account settings, which changes the general UI language. But that doesn’t affect the explanations within the lessons itself.
I mean, it wouldn’t make much sense to put the grammar explanation in Japanese on a platform for learning Japanese, since that would require an already high advanced understanding of that language.
So you might want to try a browser extension with a monolingual dictionary to get something similar, at least for vocab.
Edit:
In case you meant the hint texts under the example sentence, you can go into your settings > Reviews > choose the behavior of the hints within grammar and vocab:
While reviewing you can use the spacebar to open the hints one after another, IIRC. But that’s only available, if you have one of the fill-in review options activated.
THANK YOU IT WORKED
if i understood correctly - japanese explanations only available for n2 and n1 now, thank you though!
I had to think for a moment about your conclusion and I guess you misunderstood me a bit, because I initially misunderstood your question.
So let me try again:
Bunpro doesn’t have Japanese explanations in the lessons, because they teach Japanese, so that wouldn’t make much sense.
But in the reviews, there are so-called hints under the example sentence that is asking for the grammar point/vocab. And those hints have 4 different types, which include a Japanese nuance text. You can choose in your settings, if you want to see the nuance first or the translation, so you wouldn’t have to toggle through all of them while reviewing if you prefer one as your standard.
But those hints will only be shown in your reviews when you have to fill in the answer by yourself. So if you have your reviews set on “reading & grading”, you won’t have any hints, since you only read the sentence including the grammar/vocab and therefore don’t need a hint.
If you have to fill in the answer yourself, you will have the option to see the hints, which you can go through via hitting your spacebar or clicking on the 4 dots on the bottom left.
(Can’t provide screenshots because I don’t have reviews for now)
Hope this clears things up.
On the contrary my lepidopteran friend. Bunpro does offer Japanese explanations for grammar points in lessons. I’ve only ever seen it for N1 grammar points though, but I think there were plans to extend it to the rest of the grammar points eventually. This was the original post which described the feature.
Oh, I didn’t know that! Thank you!
