iOS Bunpro Widget - Proof of Concept

Kyle in the other thread made an Android Widget and some folks asked whether it’s possible in iOS.

In fact, it is possible in iOS with a lot of cumbersome setup. One would need to set up iOS Shortcuts, Toolbox Pro (for certain sorting tasks) and Charty – to generate charts widgets in iOS.

Here is the result:

Unfortunately this doesn’t work as reliably as I want it to be:

  1. It seems that the API key generated in the Settings will NOT work, so I had to manually inspect the one transmitted via Bunpro’s official website, but even then it works only for a few days.
  2. It requires two additional apps to provide iOS shortcut actions that would make it work: 1. Charty and 2. Toolbox Pro (for sorting).
  3. Using built-in iOS automation, it updates once daily, but not realtime.

It’s likely much better to develop an iOS app with the widget, but that’s a bit much.

we have to ask the bunpro gods to make ios widgets for us

I am dying to have a streak widget for Bunpro. Might even try to build an app if that’s what it takes. Let me know if you hear of any developments! Awesome proof of concept by the way, happy to see I’m not the only one with this desire.
