edit:
also, some here have second channels // slop channels, those are in my opinion goldmines for casual daily immersion
Is there anything that is meant for more for jp people??? I always feel like the stuff that pops up (particularly in podcasts) is all about learning Japanese. I want more content that it meant for Japanese people, particularly podcasts that I can put on in the background!
Are you a forager?
Take a peek at my short list above; those are jp centric. If you want pure jp centric i would recommend jp netflix, TVer, niconico, etc.
Ah ok thanks!! Yeah I think my IP tells places like Youtube that I don’t live in japan so the algorithm thinks I want content centered around jp learning. I’ll be sure to check some of those out! I’ve been trying to find good Japanese videos/podcasts for a while
I tend to prefer commentary/video essays but that’s been particularly hard to find lol
まあまあ、i’m not into foraging myself but i find it fascinating watching people gather some local plants and catch fish and make a dish with them, where each ingredient speaks for itself. I am though, super fascinated with insects, eating them, catching them, breeding them,… and in japanese youtube those two things (thankfully) overlap often.
if you click on your profile on youtube you can change your region to japan (on mobile its under youtube settings > general > location). that changes new recommendations but if ur algorithm is already thinking of u as a japanese lerner, you’ll still get japanese content aimed at foreigners.
I’d suggest having a seperate youtube account you use only for native japanese content, so the algorithm wont even assume your able to speak english. Also maybe comment some very basic japanese comments, that was the thing that finally made my algorithm completly ignore english content.
Nice, I think insect protein will be the future.
I like 釣りと料理 videos too.
ちぬ子 has some great catch and cook videos. I am more partial to the cook side of things though even though I enjoy surf fishing myself.
(repost, forgot to tag)
Same, or i hope so at least. Feel like the only thing thats holding it down is public perception, we also eat shrimp, lobster, crab,… which are all also just arthropods, just underwater ones.
And thanks for the recommendation, haven’t heard of her before!
+1 to torafugu saying youtubers that have the same topics of interest
My girlfriend loves しげ旅 - I appreciate his love of beer on his travels. It’s become a joke between us to say (random mundane place 到着!) in the same way he does.
「トイレ、、到着!」「リサイクルボックス、、到着!」
omg thats a great idea tysmmmm
I watch a lot of https://www.youtube.com/@tamurakae2, and I’ve been watching through the https://www.youtube.com/@yuna_game_ playthrough of Elden Ring (which is very painful tbh). I also watch a lot of mahjong stuff but I won’t bother recommending any of those channels unless you’re familiar with the game lol. There’s also this guy I watch sometimes that just makes OP Elden Ring builds https://www.youtube.com/@モノクヤ
I think I’d rather die from lack of protein, then. (and I know I’m not alone on that hill)
I watch ジャック オ 蘭たん
He sucks at video games which makes him interesting (It’s taken him like 50 45 minute long episodes to beat pokemon ZA, he also reads everything aloud too. and Used to watch ただのあひる but he stopped making videos like 6 months ago.
Tricky to make recommendations without knowing what you’re into but I like the following:
if you want some kind of podcast channel, i can recommand a few!
first this channel : ホイチョイ的映画生活〜この一本〜, he invites people to talk about cinema!!! same for this one 山田玲司のヤングサンデー but its about manga, anime etc, its difficult to understand but great for immersion cause they’re sometimes 3-4 people sooo real conversations
The last one is more a commentary/essay channel, she talks about all kind of macabre and decadent art (paintings, dolls, movies, theatre etc), sooooo interesting!!! 好事家ジェネの館
Different levels of difficulty but these are some i watch, sometimes it can be nice to watch something “easier” and just understand 99% and just chill.
