JLPT December 2023

I signed up for the N4 this morning.

I hope to finish Genki II and the N4 deck by the end of October so I can really focus on listening and practice tests for the month of November. It’ll be a grind but it has been fun so far.

I got my N3 last December and am too busy to even begin studying for N2 (I feel like I barely passed N3), but I am wishing everyone good luck and good studying!

I really wanted to sign up this year but I feel like I won’t have enough time to study (was aiming for n3 level this December). However I still might sign up for it since the alternative is wait an entire year!

Edit: you bet your slime that I signed up for the n3. Time to cram the next 100 days like never before.

Yeah, I think take the opportunity while you can and it doesn’t matter at all if you don’t pass, just keep aiming for the next one. Better than losing focus entirely before December 2024! :joy:

But I guess it depends on whether you’re able to keep long-term goals in focus or not

Don’t forget about practicing listening! That’s what I did the last time 🥲
It seems the listening section was harder this year.

Yea I guess I’ll listen to podcasts? Maybe some Youtube videos? Hadn’t thought that far along on the listening section.

Choose the familiar content you’re really enjoying
As for me, it’s anime with Japanese subtitles and Youtube videos about programming (some of them have Japanese hardsubs).

I registered to take N4, my first time trying it since before covid. Back then I did fine on kanji/vocab but struggled with listening. I’m hoping I’ve made enough listening progress since then. My reading is a lot better than back then so those sections should be super easy.

The registrations for JLPT N5 here in Melbourne went live today 3 hours ago - already sold out ;_;
I’m at work so I didn’t get to nab it in time I guess…had no idea how quick this stuff gets sold out.

A shame, as I was looking forward to it being a little milestone I could hopefully achieve at the end of my first year of study (started this Jan/Feb), but I guess this gives me time to attempt to get ready for N4 by next July (if I manage to nab those on time…)

That really sucks. Are there any other places you can get to and take it there?

Nope, Adelaide is closest available, but flights are expensive.

i was able to get through the recent jlpt with a success rate of 66 %. I think i am not taking the jlpt n3 at december since the timecap is very short, and i also focus on handwriting kanji aswell. Since my performance was very poor on the n4 i think it would be too ambitious to try n3 straight away on the next term.

I just registered to take the N4 in London  . I hope it will be okay, I am studying N3 grammar at the moment, but I wanted to confirm I at least actually reached N4 in reading and listening comprehension
