JLPT December 2025

From what i understand, the difficulty won’t be changed? Official info and cefr/jlpt correspondence graphs are here, but ima quote the relevant part:

[…] we decided to add the CEFR level as reference information to JLPT score reports, after carrying out various verification work […]

‘Verification’ makes me think that the organizers just analyzed what the jlpt already covers, and added the cefr indicators accordingly (to what already exists, rather than changing the test to accommodate for the cefr)? Please correct me if i’m wrong tho

Could be fun (and hellish haha) if jlpt had a speaking and writing section… :skull:

Trying N2 tomorrow (eek!)
Took it this time last year and stressed so bad I didn’t sleep, and failed badly because I fell asleep haha. This year I tried to stress way less about it but I’m kind of worried that I may have taken it a bit too easy… but oh well, if I fail I’ll try again.

I’ve been doing really well in my practice tests and with my tutor, but I tried out a Bunpro cram session with N2 vocab and… yikes… Maybe only 30%… Makes sense though, I moved in the summer and stopped studying for a while as I was figuring out my new schedule and forgot a lot of stuff, and I mostly have been focused on kanji and grammar. Guess I gotta get back to the vocab mines.

Wishing everyone the bets on their tests tomorrow! I would’ve liked to do more studying but the past few weeks have been really rough for me and I haven’t had the energy. I think I’ve got a fair shot at N1 though so we’ll see how it goes. Some last minute practice in a variety of areas is what I’ll probably spend tonight doing.

Today’s the day (maybe still tomorrow depending on where you live though)!

Good luck to everyone taking the test!

I was planning on squeezing some last minute revisions today and ended up spending the day with my friend. It’s probably better, not sure it would have changed much and at least I’m less stressed this way.

Good luck everyone for tomorrow (or today, depending on where you are) !

good luck on the JLPT, everyone. i’m attempting N1 for the first time after passing N2 back in 2021 and not using japanese for a long time after that (i moved back to the US in 2022). many thanks to bunpro for the excellent study tool which made it easy to jump right back in to making Japanese a daily part of my life a few months ago. it’s been great to exercise my brain and enjoy the language again. i’m excited for the challenge tomorrow and hope you all are, too!

I would also like to say good luck! I’ve seen all the effort everyone has put into studying over the last year, and it motivates me to work harder as well!

Best of luck to everyone taking the JLPT today! I remember the grueling hours spent with my nose in a textbook, and the 3-hour gauntlet of testing concentration ability during the N1 back in 2021. Take a deep breath, don’t brood over previous sections once they’ve concluded, and take full advantage of your break times. You’ve got this!

Good luck everyone, I hope everyone’s efforts pay off!

I am taking the N4 in like 12 hours in the morning. Lets see how have I have come in like a month and a half. I know this might be a very difficult shot, but at least I will know where I stand since these exams are not the final destination, but rather a checkpoint on the journey to fluency!

Here’s the customary reminder not to discuss the contents of the test

Edit: I guess this is it, idk why I couldn’t find it before. Not surprised, but man Japan sure loves their weirdly specific rules.

OC: I vaguely remember being told similarly when I took it in the past, but just checked the official JLPT page and couldn’t find any mention of this rule. Is this something the proctors explain during the exam/ is written on the booklet? Or did this rule just get phased out/was always just a rumor?

Taking the test tomorrow!
皆、JLPTにがんばって!!!

it’s my first time trying the JLPT, didn’t fully prepare or learn for the N4 so hoping for the best. Either way in the Summer I’ll aim for N3, even if I fail this time around

It is not so weird considering it is the same test everywhere on the planet, even in the order of questions. And also the people in the eastern part of the world can take the test up to 18h earlier than people in the western side. Leaking test information is just unacceptable at that point.
