JLPT December 2025

Merch idea: A hoodie/shirt with, “Ask me all about 痢” and this leads to conversations from strangers about…well…uh…anyway, after it can lead to you saying, “I learned this from Bunpro. Use my referral link for a free 6-week trial.” Then after taking two showers from being a bit of a shill, you earn BunBux (formerly B-points) and Bunpro will not only make money from the merch, but gets a new subscriber. And then he will buy a “Ask me all about 痔” hat and the cycle repeats.

Also, do you have a newsletter? I would sign up for that.

A friend of mine took the N4, he’s not confident he’ll pass but he told me to sign up for the N4 in December. I’m still halfway through the N5 decks on here, but he’s told me the exam shouldn’t be too hard if you just keep cramming JLPT exams. I’ve been told there are past exams on the internet, although I’m not sure if they’re supposed to be.

I am glad they don’t test your speaking skill, but that’s also a bit worrying since I have no one to practice my speaking with.

The jump between N3 to N2 is pretty significant, but not terrible. The biggest hurdle is the amount of reading you have to do in N2. I highly recommend picking up an app like Todai or just trying to get your hands on essays or articles in Japanese. Best of luck if you decide to take it!

I took it this summer and crossing my fingers I won’t have to take it again in December!

I believe N2 is also when the reading section starts being merged with the grammar/vocab section, making time management a bigger deal. (But I’ve never taken N5-N3 so could be wrong about that.)

How do you think you did? Feel good about it?

I’m worried about not getting a spot. I’m in NY, so I think it will fill up fast. Newark wouldn’t be so bad, but Seton Hall is in South Orange, which, despite what AAJT thinks, is not Newark.

I feel like whether I pass or fail completely hinges on the reading segment (I think most people who take it are that way). I’ve had the privilege of living in Japan since 2019 so my listening and kanji/vocab recognition is pretty good. It’s just the reading section that might get me.

Planning on taking the N1 this December. No idea if I’ll pass honestly, last practice test I took was right on the edge, but I’m 80-90% sure I passed the N2 last month and could use the extra 5 points for the highly-skilled professional visa. Think I need to do a lot of grammar practice and maybe focus on increasing my reading speed a bit.

Aiming for N3…but lord knows the grammar isn’t making it easy

Got the confirmation email for Stuttgart, seems like it won’t be paid until november or so but I’m in!

Viel Erfolg! I’ll be there, too, but N2. If you are lucky, you’ll get one of the small rooms with only 6 - 8 people!

I feel like there’s 3 categories of n3 grammar; stuff I picked up straight-away, stuff that I might be able to get down if I practice enough, and then the ‘nope’ category, stuff that I feel no matter how much time I bash my head against it, it won’t go in.

Signed up for the N2. At least currently I have the intention to really go for it this time and pass. I know that I am nearly there.

This year for me is very interesting time of my life lol. My work is at the final stages and by next year, I could be in a different country, new job etc… lol

I passed the N2 last December so signing up for N1 this time. Will take it in San Francisco! (assuming I can register in time).

I still feel like my actual Japanese level is really at odds with my test-taking ability. I seem to be passing the N1 mock exams with similar scores as I did for N2, but for both of these exams I feel like my actual understanding is severely lacking (I often feel like I don’t understand the listening sections at all, and I only very roughly understand what’s going on in the reading passages, but I somehow manage to guess the answers a lot of the time).

Taking the N3 this year as my first JLPT test and I’m nervous, but excited. I haven’t taken an exam like this in such a long time, but I’m trusting Bunpro and manga to get me ready, lol.

going for n1, still can’t really believe it myself. i think my chances of passing are 50% at best since i barely passed n2 last year, but taking the jlpt once a year has become such a routine that i actually look forward to it. (part of me kinda dreads passing n1 :expressionless:)

Signed up for the N5.

I recently passed an online mock N5 exam with about 70% in each section, but my listening definitely needs improving.

I just about know every word, and every kanji, but I still haven’t been over every N5 grammar point, though Bunpro is helping with that.

You can re-take it and just go for 満点 in case you pass or continue with 漢検

Signed up for N1 in Düsseldorf.

Checked different testing sites around my country and neighboring countries, unfortunately they are all fully booked for December already… :frowning:

Would have wanted to do the N5 just to experience the testing.

Almost WaniKani lvl 8 and taking the N4, gotta lock in for the next four months. N5 practice test seemed a bit too easy, the N4 reading is good, I have to work on Kanji and vocab(highest priority), and listening(2nd highest priority) as it stands.
