JLPT December 2025

Yes, I’m using List of Jlpt N2 exam questions for the years - dethitiengnhat.com to go through past years tests. Just listening I understand maybe 30 - 50%, especially the long ones near the end, but when I read the script, I’m always like なるほど… ww

I already watched ふてほど, but maybe I should give it a rewatch using active listening for the relevant scenes? And there should also be anime out there with that theme, right? ww

I messed up and went back to my home country for a while without realizing the application window opened :sob:

If I apply now it’s probably going to send me to the deepest, darkest depths of my prefecture…

I can imagine the location being me taking a rowing boat into the ocean to reach a remote island with a single おじいさん running the JLPT and the listening section just his impossible to understand old man voice.

By default they try to send you somewhere close by. Unlike abroad, I believe they book the exam spaces based on applicant amount and location - there shouldn’t be a fixed number of seats which you need to fight for. When I did the N1 I signed up on the final day and the test centre was about four train stops away (although I live in an urban area).

Not always true sadly. My partner and I live in central Yokohama, and we were both placed two hours away (at different testing locations) in the boonies of Kanagawa 🥲 (not that they don’t allocate based on applicants, but just no guarantee you’ll get placed somewhere near your house even if you live in an urban area).

Oh damn. Perhaps I was just particularly lucky then.

Well I did my JLPT N4 in July, I am not sure if I pass (I am being realistic as grammar is not my strong suit ), but I may considered applying for December if it is bad…

Gonna take the N3 as my first foray into the JLPT. Got all the grammar points, ~90% of the kanji, and currently about a quarter of the Bunpro N3 vocabulary. Feels like I’ve got plenty of time for those last 1500 or so vocabulary, along with the last little bit of kanji. Plus time for a refresher. Never done JLPT-style listening before, so maybe I’ll check that out. But my listening comprehension is generally pretty high.

I don’t know where exactly I’ll have to go in Japan to take it, but I’m hoping that there are enough applicants in my city that they’ll hold one here. Apparently sometimes they do, sometimes they don’t.

I took N2 in 2023, passed with 119/180.

This year, I’m taking N1, even though I’m expecting fail. Good luck everyone.

I was able to sign up for the N3 and I’m so excited! Anyone taking it at the Fayetteville location?

I managed to snag Boston JLPT N4. I don’t know why that spot is so hard to grab. Always fills within 5 minutes. Even New York and Newark took 30-60 minutes to fill.

Now that I passed the July test with a score above my self-imposed imaginary “This is too low to be proud of” line, I’m probably going to sit the next two dates out in order to slowly climb my way up the enormous mountain of N1 kanji and vocabulary.

I just cancelled my subscription to migii but I plan to resub next year - closer to my exam date. Yeah it was way beyond me in a lot of areas and I wasn’t learning much. It was better than Duolingo though.

got a spot in NYC for the N4 see y’all there

I passed N5 way back in 2015, then failed N3 in 2016. So I’m picking up with where I left off with what I should have done nine years ago.

Signed up for the N2 in my hometown, I passed N4 like four or five years ago and that was my one and only attempt at JLPT. It’s been a long time, I was on an exchange year at Hokkaido university a year ago, then i kinda stop learning Japanese. But now I’m back with my studies  Good luck in December everyone!

I signed up for N4 again with my partner, we both failed our N4 two years ago and haven’t taken it again since. Although it was July, 35 degrees in a gym room without AC and sun literally eating into our skins through the large windows. Unbearable and worst experience I’ve had, I started shooting answers at some point because I couldn’t focus due to heat. Hoping for a better situation during winter.

I intend to pass the N1 this year. I’ve been studying by myself since years now, i’m cramming JLPT mock test, N1 grammar, N1 vocabular, N1 Kanji, etc etc
I will turn 30 next January, I hope I will pass the test, it would be a great gift for myself !

I did N3 in… 2021? I think? 2022 maybe? But I decided to be insane and try for N2 in 2025, and I missed the July test, so here I am…

I don’t think I’ll pass this time, but it was a New Year’s Resolution to DO the test, so I’m at least crossing that off the list!

The sign-up period started just yesterday in my country, I was a bit worried about the payment and all the information I had to give since it’s my first time signing up. I just got the email confirmation, so all that’s left is studying for the N4!

Good luck to everyone, hope we all pass!
