JLPT July 2024

I believe we took the same test! :grimacing::+1: The volume was seriously painful… but with there being more than 1000 people in the room, the echo alone would have killed my results… despite the carpeting!

I took the JLPT N2 close to Nagoya Station. I finished right on time which was really interesting for me as I did NOT bring a watch during the exam haha.

Taking the JLPT in Japan in the summer does feel a bit like “hard mode” compared to taking it in the UK in December.

One person got a red card at the very end as he did not stop writing when the exam was over. The examiner told him twice, this person was right at the front. Thankfully, the guy begged for 30 minutes and the examiners changed it to yellow card.

A lot people who already know kanji take the N2 exam hoping to pass it quickly without much studying…eg from China.

Anyway, good luck to everyone!

The N3 exam felt infinitely easier than anything I’ve encountered at the N3 level in this app. I also didn’t feel like there were many grammar points from N3 here. I expected more.

In other words, I feel like bunpro probably over prepares you for your respective level you are taking the exam at. Really made me thankful for buying lifetime for this and wanikani.

The listening section was really the only challenging part of the exam for me. I’d say this was partly due to the mental fatigue from the grammar and reading section. It’s not that the content was difficult in the grammar and reading section, but that the volume felt like a lot compared to what I am used to.

Looking ahead at the n2, I’ll probably spend less time on Kanji, more time on grammar, reading, and listening.

The kanji and vocab section was a joke. I expect that any studying I do for N2 should mostly cover kanji I’d need for that section.

Interesting to hear, I also took it near Nagoya station (about a 10m walk away). I always wondered how harsh they are on that rule, it’s the reason why I had to leave 2 questions blank in my Winter 2023 exam (maybe why I failed due to only missing 3 points), and why I made sure to bring a clock with me this time around.

Does anyone know when we are expected to be able to view results? I am itching to find out, guessing it won’t be until at least the end of August.

It’s likely to be around 19th August!

Yeah I think there are quite a few reasons for this. As others have said, it tends to be terribly conducted in Japan, but another is that the questions and answers are put online literally 1 hour after the exam in Japan and people take the exact same exam up to a day or more later in other countries. That is ridiculous in my opinion for this type of exam. In Japanese study Discords for example, people who have just finished the exam in Japan will start chatting about the test even though there are a lot of people in the Discord who haven’t taken the test yet from America and so on.

The last time I took N1 I failed by one point and during the listening, the CD player faded out into silence and then came back (skipping some dialogue) a total of 4 separate times with no replays even though they are supposed to replay the whole question if there is an issue. The proctors were incompetent but there was no method of recourse.

This time I finally tried it again and the same thing happened, the CD player suddenly went quiet about 3 times, but thankfully this time the proctor apologized profusely and replayed those parts like they are supposed to. However, as others said, it was still very hot, not allowed to drink water and I had to buy an analog watch before the exam that made a slight ticking noise I didn’t know about until I opened it that morning.

It’s a N2 pass! 117 / 180. Barely passed N3 by 1 point last December, and now N2 after 1 year and 6 months since starting hiragana (on test day). I can’t describe the feelings I have right now, but this gives me the energy to continue. Aiming for N1 in December. That will be before the 2 year mark of starting. 頑張ります!

They are available in Japan. I am not sure but I think the international results release at different times - could also just be the website crashing due to traffic.

Of course, our language school made a group registration, and didn’t gave us the required informations (logins) to access the results. And the teachers are busy today so we have to wait xD

Edit : I already know I failed anyway because the school’s methods don’t suit me at all :grinning:

I passed N4! Thanks BunPro and thanks to the community here for making this such a welcoming place

Already aiming for N3 next summer. Definitely need to improve my listening though (28/60 on the N4) . Time to start watching Midnight Diner again, I guess.

Got the results. Failed miserably. Total of 60点, almost failed all 3 sections (I feel like since I started a language school, my level even decreased).

I guess I was more than ready for N4
Anyway, three more months to learn half of the N3 decks. Congrats to any of you who passed (and to those who didn’t: no worries, if you keep at it you’ll do better next time)

N3 174/180, and now I’m suddenly very curious which 6 points I’ve messed up in the middle scoring section (reading + grammar).
