JLPT July 2026

me 2! but there are 78 spots for n3

Me three. Was checking the registration 20 minutes after the start and was trying for N3. Completely booked out

There were still some open spots for N4, though. I just started N4 grammar, so I guess that’s fine, too.

I probably aim for N3 in december and (hopefully) get an ā€˜easy’ pass for N4 in July.

Aiming for N2 in July! I originally intended to take it in December, but

A) I missed the deadline (oops), and
B) Honestly, I don’t think I would have been ready by then anyway, since my studying habits had gotten a bit wobbly.

I’ve gotten back into the swing of things now though, so I’ll be doing my reviews and whatever practice I can get through each day for reading speed and listening. é ‘å¼µć‚Šć¾ć—ć‚‡ć†ļ¼

That’s really interesting. Here in Japan we have to wait another two weeks before registration opens.

While I don’t think I need to worry about not getting a spot, I’ll still stress a bit until my registration goes through.

I think it would be somewhat easier to get a spot with the new restrictions on who can test in Japan. It at least makes the odds better for those with residence cards.

I dont think japan has limited spots

Registrations in Leuven are open! I sent in mine yesterday. Leiden is closest for me too, but I don’t trust myself to nab a spot there, so I’m going to Leuven instead. I used to live there so it’ll be nice to see the city again for a bit

Which page are you using to sign up at Leuven? I’m starting to think I don’t have the right link, because it has looked closed to me all this time.

I would much prefer to take the exam in Leuven, however I feel like I shouldn’t switch sites now because chances are that even if my spot is freed up in Berlin, they won’t give it to anyone else, and given how few spots there are here in west Europe, I’d feel awful about taking up two spots.

Hope you have a great time in Leuven!

This is the link I’ve used for Leuven

It’s not a handy online form or anything, you have to print out the form and send it in (or go there to fill them out in person…). I’m also not 100% sure how to do the structured communication they’re talking about for the payment, so I put the number in the description for the payment and am hoping that’s the right thing to do…

Thank you. for some reason I never came across this page when looking for how to sign up at Leuven. Weird.

Ghent also does the paper form thing. I don’t mind mailing a paper form as long as it gets me a spot.

SOAS N1 and N2 applications open on the 16th March, and N3, N4, and N5 registrations open on the 17th March. Applications for KCL open on 16th March (I assume for all levels)

I also applied for Leuven, aiming for N5, what about you ? Maybe we’ll be in the same room.

I was going to do N5 at first, but then I did some practice material and realised I’m past that, so I’m going for N4 instead. Not sure I’ll make it, I feel like I’m somewhere in between the two, but there’s still time to check what I’m missing and work on that so I’m just going to try

Oh that’s cool, with the price increase of the test, it’s nice you can skip directly to N4. I wanted to do the same, but had hard time studying during exams. Good luck for your test in July!! :muscle:

Oh no, has the test price increased again?!

Edit: In Japan at least, it looks like the fee is still the pretty steep ā€œ7,500 yen (consumption tax included)ā€.

That’s one third of the Dutch fee of 120 euro

Jeez, thats high…

Is it actually that steep? That’s like 1/4 of the fees of any other language aptitude test (toefl, ielts, etc)

I feel like this depends how you view it like- is it expensive for a language proficiency test? maybe no. Is it expensive tho? I think yes. I mean in general I would consider spending 7500 yen to be a lot.

Also a lot of those English tests are considerably more involved and arguably ā€œhigher quality,ā€ so to speak, than the JLPT tbf, including writing and speaking sections that JLPT doesn’t have.

ahem

also some of them are profit driven blood squeezing vampires preying on ESL students rraaaaaaaaaa

I wanted to take part in the N5 test in Sydney, but it was booked out in 3 days! Now I am enrolled in N4 and freaking out
