模擬もぎ - an imitation.
For context, when I was at university, my friends training to be teachers would often ask me to watch their 模擬授業もぎじゅぎょう, which were lessons they created but would not teach to actual students. I suppose you could even translate it as a demonstration.

ギリギリ - grinding sound

When learning the meaning of the kanji 擬, the nuance associated to it was that it is something done not to trick any one but for the purpose of testing, practice, learning… like a mock-up or a mock trial. The ‘bad’ one would be 偽, as in 偽物 (にせもの).
