I always like to see the kanjis of these words that are normally written in kana: 苺, 林檎, 蜘蛛…
In this case, it’s an ear under the grass (main radical): “hearing” the grass for mushrooms. It kind of calls to mind how pigs look for truffles.

Nice! It is of course ateji but the choice of kanjis is curious: both share the king (王) radical. I love these ones, same radical in both kanjis of the 熟語.
