だれが、話の警察はとても徒労だったと思ういますか?

Did anyone else feel the police officer in this story was not very helpful? lol

にて is in the title of the first passage, but isn’t taught until N2 L6!

It would also be really helpful for me if someone could explain this sentence further 🙇‍♂:

いつ落としたか思い出したら連絡してほしいです。

Specifically, I’m a little confused by the role the “か” is playing in this sentence… is it “or”?? That doesn’t seem to make sense: “When you dropped it or if you remember, I would like you to contact me.”

Took a quick look at a listed resource, it’ll explain it better than me I think. You could also check out the resource tab for the か grammar point? Found this one under かどうか but #2 is what you’re looking for

Ah, thank you! I read through a few things, but it was still confusing for me

So, here it is a connection between a question and a request? So, literally something like:
“When did you drop it, if remembered, I would like you to make contact.”
Or, less literally:
“If you remember when you dropped it, I would like you to contact me.”

Thank you!

For me separating it into two answers always helped me make sense of it

"When did you drop it? I want you to contact me if/when you remember. "

The か is just marking a question within a sentence

In the last dialogue is it strange sounding that the kid used だが? Bunpro says that it’s more literary and stiff sounding. Would a kid normally use that with his mom?
