This is a discussion topic for the updated N5 Lesson 6 reading passages. (May 2024)
Hi there,
I was hoping to ask about this particular passage:
妹は綺麗で陽気だった
It’s translated as “She was beautiful and cheerful” which seems clear, but what throws me off is the で particle between the two adjectives being interpreted as “and”. I haven’t come across that usage before (I’m only currently familiar with と) I think?
Thanks in advance for any help with this.
hey there, this で links the two な adjectives together. Heres its lesson

Ah right! I’ll admit it seemed familiar, but I couldn’t quite remember and after going through a bunch of the grammar points I couldn’t find it (was chiefly looking for で, not て).
Welp, looks like this is a grammar point I’ll have to re-review. Thanks!
