Repeat Vocab

When doing vocab reviews it often shows words again after passing the word. Also, multiple vocab words are repeating (same definition and same spelling) in different decks. These two issues are not connected as even ones that don’t have multiple entries in different decks will pop-up multiple times in reviews even after passing them.
I sent a report about a specific one already but I keep running across more and more.

If this is purposeful please let me know. Or may be my settings are messed up idk.

Yeah, I’ll often get the same one again just a couple of cards later during reviews. Seems to happen most review sessions, but only once or twice in a session :thinking:

is that not just ghosts?

It isn’t just ghosts - I’ll try and get a screenshot sometime, but it’s hard to do without screenshotting everything because you never know which one(s) are going to be repeated :joy:

Are they completely separate Vocab items?
Can you please send me a link(s) to the items and Decks in question?

I’ll likely be able to dig into it!
Thanks!

I will if I see another! Unfortunately I’ve been marking repeat vocab as mastered so they’re mixed in with about 1300 other words but if I find one I’ll post it in this thread.

This happens to me a lot too (also in crams). I never really found it to be a problem though. I just do it again and move on, lmao.

Found one example of this today: 窒息 (JLPT N1) | Bunpro

The specific sentence repeated was:

If you want an example of the same vocab appearing twice, 頑張る has two entries:

The Genki II is missing the information from the unclassified godan verb entry.

In fact, I found two others for 頑張れ:

I think there’s at least two duplicate N5 vocab words in the N4 deck but I couldn’t find the time to post about it here :sweat_smile:
One word that comes to mind is 紫(むらさき)

Thanks for all the finds!

I’ve brought this up internally.

I’ve been told by a teammate that as part of a separate project we’re working on, these will be automatically found and weeded out.

Just confirming — it seems like the duplicate words in decks seems to be a different issue from the bug @domfinite, @bunnypro and I are seeing. Or in my case, I don’t have the same word added multiple times across multiple decks, but the same example sentences are being repeated in reviews. (With 窒息 being an example as posted above earlier).

Yep, me too. I wondered if it was due to Bunpro not registering the answer, such as if it thinks the connection has gone, as sometimes happens during review sessions randomly :thinking:

@bunnypro

Is this on the app or website?
The website yeah? That’s very strange (and also a me-problem :woozy_face:)

Are you seeing it every session?

Yep, on the website!
Actually, it hasn’t been happening so often in the last few days :thinking: but it was previously about once per review session.
In my case at least, the repeated card or two would usually come only a few cards after they originally appeared in the session, making me think it might just have been a temporary lapse of connection before trying to pick up where the review session might have left off, or something like that :thinking:

I often have the issue of having twice the same word. Just a minute ago it was ところ.

I may be describing a completely different issue here, but this happens to me as well, but only when I’m on the review that will slay a card that is a ghost. I’ll see the same sentence that is a ghost (for the 4th time or however many you need to “slay” it), plus an additional card using the same grammar/vocab that is a regular review and is marked as “seasoned” “adept” etc. I think that is intentional.

Checked your account, looks like the second one was a Ghost that you just slayed.

@jbrat96

This actually seems like it might be the way to replicate.

In @kurogane 's case too, in their latest screenshot, the first ところ was a slain Ghost, followed by a Review for that same Grammar, that shouldn’t have show up again until a few days later (I think).

Will see if I can try replicate it

Found another example case, if you’re looking for more — not sure if it’s the same slain ghost issue or not.
