I have a question about this grammar point:
卵 みたいに 割れやすい。
Easy to crack, just like an egg.
We are using みたいに, but would it be possible for us to use のように as well? I kinda get these two mixed up…

Yes, it would be possible.
Whenever ような・ように describes similarity in the manner of doing something or appearance it can be replaced with みたいな・みたいに。
It also can replace ようだ on the end of the sentence when describing guess/conjecture. The only difference is the level of formality. みたい is more casual. (though it doesn’t mean that よう is not used that way in casual speech)
Warning:
In all other cases, みたい cannot replace よう, for example よう in ように言う・ように頼む・ように命じる cannot be replaced. Or ように when it means “so that・in order to” (not yet added to bunpro) also cannot be replaced.
