Oh, I didn’t change anything in my settings, but starting from today I see the whole English translation right off along with the hint.
But I have “Hide English” setting turned on. What’s going on?
Are you still experiencing this now? Also is it on desktop or mobile?
Now it works as expected, thanks!
Desktop Firefox 110
Is there a way to get the hints to display in Japanese for grammar reviews?
We haven’t created the Japanese version for them yet but it is on our short term to do list
Strange . Will check if this was an input error or something else and fix it. Thanks for posting it up!
I’ll second this request, and also add the option of showing nothing first: so just the question, then add the hint, then show the nuance, and show the translation last?

So it seems like the “quiz me” section after learning new vocab is locked on bunpro cloze and no longer is manual input available. I am finding this too difficult to “guess” words into full sentences, as translating the single word I felt was more efficient. Does anyone know how to change this back?
All my decks are set to manual input
Wow, now hints have important parts marked blue! But there’s something wrong with the space around it
If you see any more like this, be sure to let us know! It’s probably just an input error on our end.
Actually this is how every hint having such blue highlight looks like
Hmm, in that case I’ll have to check with the dev guys then, I was pretty careful to add spaces correctly when entering the highlighting tags, so sounds like it might be something else.
Just in case, I’m using old reviews UI. Desktop Firefox 110.
This new feature is absolutely, truly fantastic. After only a few days it feels like a total game-changer. It does slow down (by quite a lot, sometimes) how quickly I can process each review item, but each review feels 10x more effective at building integrated comprehension.
Having said that, there are a few issues with the specifics of the hints. For example:
Here is a sentence prompting the N5 vocab “さあ”, which is taught with the meaning " come, come now, come along, go on, hurry up":
バイトリーダー:「___、店に来る人に挨拶をしましょう。」
And the hint:
話し手が話題にあがったことについてよく理解していないときに使う表現。
An expression that indicates that the speaker is unsure about something that has been said.
That is a technically accurate, but incomplete, definition, leaving out the meaning that is actually being studied here.
(I’ve been reporting these using the built-in bug feature.)
Are you using the Reviews 2.0 Beta?
Is this error still happening?
I have only used Reviews 2.0 Beta. Yes the error persists - I try to send an error report everytime I use the website, but it rarely gets checked.
Sorry, I’ve just got back from holiday and am going to need to work through the feedback for Reviews 2.0.
I’ll send you a DM about this.
Hello. This may be slightly off-topic, but I was wondering if we had an ETA for the N3+ vocab example sentences.
The reason being is that I’d like to take the N2 this winter, so having an ETA could certainly help me plan out my overall study schedule going forward.
Thank you for your hard work.
