Would second the app being published to the iOS App Store so that it doesnā€™t expireā€¦

Test flight expired here as well.

I agree, while I love Bunpro I basically never use it on my phone because the Android app is justā€¦ not ideal :ā€™) Using the mobile website would be an alternative I guess, but I usually prefer apps on phones because itā€™s just less clunky

The current build expired and we are working on releasing a new one so you can access it again. Sorry for the trouble. :bowing_man:

Got it, thanks for the quick turn around.

Thank you! Any reason why it hasnā€™t been released on to the App Store official yet?

Apple wonā€™t approve it until it offers in app purchases and that hasnā€™t been a priority to implement yet.

Hi guys, I know itā€™s probably something to do with the update but Iā€™m not getting new reviews reminders from my iPhone app. I managed to redownload it no problem after the update but itā€™s just the reminders that Iā€™m not getting. Cheers

Hi, first of all, ty for the app. Thatā€™s great, Iā€™m going to use it a lot. Of course, Apple wants money ā€¦ I did some research on mobile apps and IOS programming. What seems to be common is put ads, and pay to remove them ā€¦ but thatā€™s terrible from a user point of view. The other option is the subscription. Apple takes 30% (15% if itā€™s a subscription) as taxes. A few mobile apps friends basically put a price on their website and a higher price inside the app to compensate for the taxes.

Iā€™m personally using my phone and iPad to study quite often, and probably not the only one. Iā€™m sure releasing an app on the App Store can be beneficial for us consumers but also for you (more app downloads = more subscription). Hope to see you one day on the App Store

I only just saw this message. For context, I work as a mobile app developer (amongst other things).

You actually donā€™t need to implement In app purchases to appease Appleā€™s rules, as long as you donā€™t directly link users to outside the app in order to ask for payment. See how Netflix does it for example.

Hi,

Not sure Netflix is the best example ā€¦ when the app was released at first, in-app purchases were available. In 2018, they tried to remove in-app purchases in some countries, not all of them. It was then removed everywhere, but Iā€™m not sure Apple and Google were happy about that

But yes, itā€™s in-app payments are not mandatory. Some examples of apps some of us are using every day that are completely free: google maps, google chrome, Teams, Cisco webex meetings, slack ā€¦

@Rion @Jake help! The iOS Beta app has stopped working because the TestFlight build has expired again. Could we please get an updated version?

Is it possible the app could just be published to the stores, so it doesnā€™t keep expiring? This isnā€™t the first time I havenā€™t been able to use Bunpro because the TestFlight build has expired, itā€™s really frustrating.

Alternatively any thoughts about just open sourcing the project so others can build it themselves, or possibly contribute to the project?

Itā€™s really disappointing that neither Android app gives me any notifications when I have reviews available. :frowning: I even made sure that nothing obvious (like aggressive battery management) was preventing my notifications from arriving.
Itā€™s one of the main things that helped me stay consistent with my WaniKani, and would be super important for me to be consistent with BunPro as well. Constant nagging reminders help!

I wish the creator of flaming durtles could also make a bunpro app.

I agree, it would be awesome if they would consider open sourcing the project.

I am also impacted and have to use web version since the test built expired couple days ago. This is not critical but is annoying as my daily routine is broken.
Has this happen before? How long does this usually take to fix?

Iā€™d love to release it actually. Unfortunately Apple only approves it if the subscriptions offered on the website are also offered from within the app via App Store Subscriptions and I canā€™t implement that. I may be possible once the legal battle is over and Apple has to open that up to other mechanisms as well, but that could take a while.

Right now there are some unfortunate technical difficulties and I wasnā€™t able to update the TestFlight version. Iā€™ll do that as fast as possible and Iā€™m really sorry I wasnā€™t able to do that in time

Just my 2 cents.

While the app makes sense on TestFlight, it doesnā€™t really make sense on the store until the payments are sorted out:

  • The new users discovering the app through TestFlight is unlikely, and they will already know what Bunpro is about.

  • If a new user would download the app from the AppStore and would be given a dry ā€œYour account subscription is expiredā€ without giving any hint on how to subscribe in order to appease Apple would be a terrible user experience.

At this point it might be better to just wait with TestFlights until the Apple dispute has ended and the rules are cleared up.
