End Of Discount

My subscription ends two days after the discount ends.
I really should have bought the lifetime subscription on sale but nope I thought I get another year squeezed in before the discount ends. So much for that :joy:

+ 30USD for 1 year (before the discount ends)
+ 120USD for lifetime on discount
-----
150 USD (current lifetime price).

Just saying. It’s the same amount of money.

After that intense math calculation, I’m out for the night.

Well technically they would get some money back for not using the whole year upon buying lifetime in december, it would only save about 6 bucks (~2.5monts), but i guess it might be enough to persuade someone.

not if you are outside of the US and have to pay currency conversion fee on every transaction. 1 Transaction of 150$ would be cheaper than 30$+120$

I’ve been paying with my credit card from PayPal and luckily I’ve never had to pay conversion fees. But I will wait a few days after my subscription ends to get the best exchange rate.

Paypal charges some nasty hidden fees, sometimes they are even worse than your bank’s/card’s.
Same for Amazon Currency Exchange.

What they do is instead of charging you a fee and disclosing that fee, they apply a bad exchange rate, which includes their fee cut. The behaviour is the same as those exchange bureaus that say “NO COMMISSION”.

I had no idea. Thanks for the warning. Seems I have been lucky so far. But then again I had like 3 overseas payments for Bunpro and Wanikani in total.
Well right now I have no money to afford 150$ either way so I guess I’ll wait and think about what I im going to do.

Take it easy, there’s no feature difference between monthly or yearly so in the end, all it matters is that you are learning with what you are subbing to.

Aww damn, I wanted to upgrade to a $30 yearly before the pricing change and now I missed it. My monthly renewed March 12 and I’m still shown the discounted rates in /settings/subscriptions. Can I still safely upgrade to the $30 year?

The pricing change will go live in about an hour :bowing_man:

Well, I just went ahead with the change to yearly. I realized since I’m using PayPal it’ll probably take more than an hour until someone handles it. I guess I’ll be out of luck and have to cancel since I’m trying not to spend more with how much almost everything is increasing in cost lately here in Europe (and probably everywhere else, too). :frowning: A mail would have been nice for the people who don’t check the forums regularly.

There was a notice on the dashboard.

And they also mentioned about this change on the end of year review:

I’m sure @Jake and the team can give you the previous price anyway, since you requested it on-time.

Wow, that simultaneous double! Yeah I should have clicked on it every now and then. It’s pretty easy to forget if all I do is just my reviews and lessons every now and then. My bad.
On a positive note I just noticed the upgrade was processed, so many thanks to the Bunpro team  :bowing_man:

Too bad I missed it. I had just started looking at BunPro and a few days later had to go to the hospital. Just getting back “on my feet” as it were, and looks like I missed out. I guess it really doesn’t pay to get sick.

I’m still thick into WaniKani and already paid for that, so I’ll probably just focus on that for a while and tenatively try this tool…so far I’m finding it a bit confusing and opaque compared to WaniKani, which really holds your hand through the process. I’m sure I’ll figure it out though, and maybe there will be a deal in the future to encourage new people to sign up.

The $3 that I have paid monthly the last few years is an absolute bargain for the quality and features of this site. And looks like it is only getting better and better!
