We’re switching to a hints system that allows answers that are grammatically/contextually incorrect to explicitly show as incorrect, but still have a hint/helper.
Previously, all hints were orange, regardless of if the answer was correct under other circumstances, or just completely incorrect in all circumstances.
So, to use your example, previously the “Let’s try a different particle” hint for 「なみえる」 would have been orange.
Now, 「なみえる 」 is explicitly marked as not correct.
Does that make sense?
Sorry I feel like I’ve done a horrible job at explaining

Hey!
We have fixed this bug, and it will be released with the next patch, most likely this weekend!
Sorry for the inconvenience,
Dominik from Bunpro
For the past few days, I’ve been having trouble adding vocab to reviews via the ellipsis in their row on the vocab deck view page. After clicking the ellipsis, I’m shown the options “Add To Reviews” and “Mark as Mastered”, but selecting either of the options doesn’t seem to do anything.
I’m experiencing this on Firefox (iOS). But it also seems to happen on Safari (iOS) and Chrome (Linux). I couldn’t reproduce the issue on Firefox (Linux).
Audio samples are not playing for me, on vocab or grammar cards.
edited to add: resolved after a device restart. Another app was also not playing audio, it was possibly a problem with the os/device.
The play button lights up at the end of each review but no audio is heard. If I manually tap the play button, the audio bar appears but is in an endless loading state:
When you do audio crams and add a group of sentences, e.g. your troubled grammar, you might end up adding sentences without audio. The generated card is pretty useless in that case.
But of course fill-in questions don’t accept kanji, they only accept hiragana.
So it’s easy to accidentally create a question that’s impossible to answer.
It would be better to warn, or even better, to auto-fill furigana in the answer field.
Actually it’s not the app, it’s the website that’s been “Added to Home Screen” on an iPad.
I haven’t set any special ordering on my reviews.
This happens intermittently, like once every few days, but will persist over the course of several reviews, lasting about 5 minutes.
Some other info I forgot to mention:
Generally, after one (sometimes two) taps of “Submit Again”, I get a “success” message. But then I’ll review the next card, and then the same thing will happen. So I end up going through this dance of tapping “Submit Again” after every review, for a period of about 5 minutes.
To clarify, this warning appears after I have answered a card, and have now moved onto a new card. I’ll be looking at the new card for a few seconds, and then this warning will pop up, presumably relating to the previous card.
I find this to be very disruptive, as the popup covers the details of the card I’m currently looking at, and stays there until I’ve tapped “Submit Again” enough times to make it go away. It probably wouldn’t matter so much if it wasn’t happening so frequently, but when it happens on every card, it really interrupts my flow. I wonder if the site should try to resubmit silently and automatically in the background.
Am I able to send you debug logs from the site as well as the app? If so I will send you some next time it happens.
Edited to add: this is now happening every time I use the app over the last few days, and is really becoming a drag
I wasn’t sure if I was losing my mind or not, but I just confirmed that I’m getting duplicate reviews on at least the vocab on Android. I had 3 vocab reviews, and one of them came up twice, the second time after I already got it right the first time. I haven’t paid enough attention to notice if maybe one is ghost and the other is not, or if it’s just straight up duplication.
