I’d personally love if there was a mode that treats vocab in the beginner category differently from vocab in the other categories. I personally notice that some words just don’t really stick in the beginning, and while I get that there are features like cram for that exact purpose, I feel like that disrupts the flow of normal reviews and isn’t as seamless. Could there be an option for words in the beginner category to be Reading + Self-grade and then become Input afterwards? I feel like I could internalize new words better that way by first reading it over and over again.
I have a suggestion to help with that problem (I think your idea is good, and my suggestion doesn’t work with everyone’s learning habits, so I just mention it in case it can help some people). I’m at level 7 and I also noticed that many words just don’t stick at all to my memory, I always fail them when they show up in reviews. What helped me immensely was coming up with silly mnemonics (the sillier, the better, it works best if it makes me laugh :D) and writing them in the “Notes” section of the vocab’s page.
For “monday” and “tuesday” for example, I have the following:
- monday: you made a deal with a bee queen: she gives you honey, and you provide her with new workers each week. She needs the worker at the start of the week, so each monday, she comes and gets you(r) bee → げつようび;
- tuesday: after getting your bee on monday, the queen ca(lculates) your bee on tuesday to assess its capabilities → かようび.
Trying to link both days might be overdoing it, and I don’t know if I can keep it up for the rest of the weekdays, but but I find it funny so far. Since I’ve started doing this, I have almost never failed a vocab that was giving me trouble before (nor new ones for which I came up with a mnemonic right away when I suspected I would have difficulty remembering). It may take me some time to re-assemble the stupid situation I came up with and find my way back in it, but I always manage to remember the word like that, and it takes me noticeably less long to do so each time the word comes back in review. I feel like I’m finally making progress with those words, and that the progress is visible each time they come up.
I know coming up with mnemonics is a pretty standard and often recommended tool for remembering stuff, but actually starting to use some myself felt like a small revolution in my learning process and I don’t know who else needs to read that so here goes :D.
Hey team, request related to the dashboard Forecast chart.
It’s daunting how large the cumulative review pile looks a week out, on my dashboard. What feels much more interesting at this stage is the rate of new reviews each day — “at this pace how many reviews are coming in each day this week?”
The number I’m after already exists on-hover for a given day in the daily forecast view. I would really like to flip my forecast chart’s default to represent that # of reviews added instead of the cumulative view (and its total that assumes I’m not going to do any of the reviews).
Possible to offer the delta as a primary, and switch to the cumulative on hover? At least for me, the daily review pace and not the size of the review pile is what I’m trying to manage.
EDIT: This already exists!! There’s a settings wheel.
In Anki mode I would love if I could just tap backspace and it would undo and return to the previous question that I just mistakenly marked correct twice.
It’s a bit frustrating when I know I marked something correct that should be wrong, but it’s gone and I won’t see it for a long time.
I would love a little vocab/grammar deck combo that teaches you all the japanese linguistics/pedagogy terms that bunpro uses. The kinda major thing that stops me from using the japanese grammar nuance hint is… well I don’t know what it says x)
I like this new definition box, but it wastes a lot of space if you don’t also remove the old definitions from just above it, and pitch accent is even more “hidden” now than before (ideally it should be high enough to be visible as soon as the answer is input/revealed so you don’t gotta scroll after every single word). Feels WIP, granted, but still thought I’d share what I thought
When looking through a deck, it’d be great if there were sections that showed when a new lesson starts.
Example shown in screenshot:
Motivation: Whenever I’ve finished a session, I want to read the associated Reading Practice.
When reading about a grammar point, I sometimes can’t remember the needed conjugation, or I might not even have learned it yet.
For these scenarios, it’d be great if I could just click on the conjugation to see it.

This may not be the best place to ask but I couldn’t find a more appropriate thread:
Do we have any idea of when the Android app will be updated with the full website features? In particular in my case I really like ordering my reviews by SRS stage so that I can do my low SRS reviews regularly and leave the long-term reviews for when I have more time.
Bunpro has added this feature to the web interface a while ago but I don’t think it found this way to the app yet and it’s a source of frustration for me.
What version of the app are you currently on? In the current version the cogwheel in the top left of reviews will open up Settings and then the Queue Order tab should have what you’re looking for. Hopefully that solves your problem, if not let me know!
EDIT: Nevermind, I found it, I didn’t press the right cog… I’m happy that I asked!
Still surprised that the setting didn’t just sync from the web version, I didn’t think to go look for it because I assumed it would turn on automatically if it existed.
Will pass this along, really helpful information to know. Sorry about the lil’ hiccup, but thanks again for reporting this!
Any way we could get the Vocab Deck/Section as a part of the info for vocab on the app instead of requiring me to scroll down in order to show the deck group/level in the header? When searching for words to add to reviews I’d like to know if it’s a part of an JLPT deck because I’ve found non JLPT vocab in Bunpro to be a bit buggy.
I bring up the stuff about the levels because of an issue (odd review behavior) when I tried adding 充電 to my Reviews, which is in the A2 Group/Category. It doesn’t seem to show sentences because it seems like reviews (at least on the app) aren’t supported.
Hey! @Latsu
I am looking into this issue.
EDIT:
It seems that question does not have study questions yet, so it is only possible to review it in translation mode
Will also make sure to add the deck info.
EDIT2:
It will be released with this weeks update!
Cheers!
Good to know.
Thank you!
Are you guys planning on releasing ios app?
Hi there!
It’s currently in Beta but you can access it here.
A few more things we need to do before we’re allowed to officially release it on the app store.
I see. But the beta quota is full right now
