Never heard of it. It looks pretty cool. Will keep it in mind going forward
That’s what I needed. Perfect. Thank you!
Sorry if it’s been suggested before.
Tl;dr: in a deck, a way to mark multiple items as mastered instead of one by one.
–
For months only doing the grammar paths, I somehow only just found out about decks. I went to add N5 and N4 vocab ones. Being lv60 on Wanikani, it marked over 60% of each as learned, but there’s also a lot of other vocab there I know but that isn’t on Wanikani.
I’m marking one by one of those as mastered and it’s taking a long time. It’d be a lot easier and faster if I could, for example, check multiple items on the list view and mark them all as mastered at the same time.
Making Bunpro more colorblind friendly? I’m a user that keeps all of my electronics in black and white due to a medical condition. I’ve noticed places where bookmarked vocab isn’t very friendly to this. For example on the desktop “bookmarked” page if I want to un-bookmark something the bookmark changes from red to gray. However on a black and white screen basically the darkness of the bookmark icon slightly changes, which makes it really challenging to see the change visually.
I know my issue is very niche; I don’t know anyone else who uses the grayscale mode permanently. But I wonder if improving on it might add accessibility overall for more users with accessibility conditions that intersect with how I use electronics. Thank you in advance for any considerations.
I sometimes advance to the next question when I didn’t mean to.
This could either be due to tapping the “send” icon twice, or if I’m using the device keyboard, tapping Enter twice, without meaning to.
A couple of features that might help:
- A button to “Go Back” to the previous card.
- Using a different interface to advance to the next card - like another button in a different place. (This could be optional to avoid slowing down users who are happy with the existing interface)
Links to other services would be useful.
Sometimes I’ll study a vocab card in BunPro and realise it has an additional meaning I was not yet aware of.
It would be useful to have a link to the same vocab item on WaniKani so I can hop over there and add it.
Whether this link is displayed on vocab or not could be an option in the WaniKani sync settings in BunPro.
Can backspace be set to be consistent? Right now backspace sometimes erases all of the words, sometimes erases only the last letter you typed. I’d like to be able to set it to only erase the last letter, it’s really annoying that it erases everything you typed and you have to type it again, especially if the incorrectness is only in the last few letters.
On the /bookmarks
page, this appears to have been a bug
On all the other pages, the icon switches from hollow to solid.
I’ve fixed this and it will be available next patch.
Please let us know if there are any other changes like this that you’d like!
It currently wipes all input if you are post answer (whether right or wrong).
You’d prefer it undo the correctness/incorrectness indicators, and just delete a single character?
You indeed encountered a caterpillar!!
Yes, once I pressed enter, I got the information I needed from the screen (the correctness/incorrectness indicators and the extra hint, if there is one).
When I press Backspace, if there was a way for it to just let me retain the roman characters I typed, that would reduce my time spent.
You could definitely argue that having to retype the whole thing helps with drilling in the learning but I want to say that I’d personally trade that off with just being able to get through more total inputs via higher efficiency per question (or move on to the rest of my learning schedule on or off Bunpro).
I think I’d just be happier with some QoL tweaks to bring more efficiency. Besides a backspace setting, it’d be nice if, say, pressing shift or tab changed the hint level. Right now, it seems like I’m forced to use the mouse to alter that, so I can’t have a keyboard-only experience.
That’s a fair argument if you consider the fact that you could Ctrl+A and then Delete to clear the field too.
It’d be nice if, say, pressing shift or tab changed the hint level
If I’m understanding you correctly, then this should already be doable with the Space key!
Is this what you’re referring to?
Ahh got it, I didn’t know space worked, thanks!
dunno if this feature was ever added and its just not working for me?
but are we able to click words in reading reviews to pop up definitions and more importantly, add it to reviews from that small pop up?
i keep running across useful or fun words during reviews that i would like to hoard
It would be great to have a section that breaks down the kanji used in each vocabulary word! For example, 田植え would have a section that describes the “田” and “植” kanji, similar to the results you get when searching “田植え” on jisho.com.
I know Bunpro doesn’t have a dedicated kanji-learning section, but it’s probably not a bad assumption to think that Bunpro users are also studying kanji.
How can i subscribe? I dont have credit cards yet or paypal. I dont think I will be able to fetch cc for a while. I am in Japan.
Question + suggestion 2 in 1.
How does grammar search currently work? Is it based on the “structure” field, or a special hidden search field?
I was trying to search for すまい, got no results, and only after some more googling realized it’s a version of まい (JLPT N2) | Bunpro. Maybe it would be nice if it came up in search in this case.
On the other hand, searching for だった (as an experiment) brings up a couple of seemingly unrelated points.
A way to order the appearance of reviews in a session, based on various ordering methods.
For me, right now, the ordering method I’m interested in is: I would like cards that have most recently been added to my list of cards under study (via WaniKani sync in my case) to appear first.
I recently started syncing with WK at around level 13 and that means I have a backlog of around 1000 reviews to catch up on.
I will chip away at it bit by bit. However, when I start a review session, it would make most sense to me to see the most recently synced WK vocab first, so I can get a sense of how that vocab is used in a real sentence while also progressing it through the early stages of the WK SRS.
Edited to add: I can also envision it being useful to order my reviews in the opposite direction, so: oldest/most SRS advanced WK items appearing first. Because sometimes I want to work on BunPro sentence based reviews for vocab I’m already most comfortable with.
Minor polish, it would be nice if the review forecast would update automatically every hour (or at least be queued to update if it’s been an hour since the tab was used). It’s always a bit confusing when I open my bunpro tab and have to F5 for it to make sense.
