Feedback - Suggested Improvements/Feature Request

Hey! I put this in a private message, but I am also adding it here, just in case. Yesterday I switched my settings to the “reading” answer option in order to get through a massive pileup of reviews. Today, I reversed the changes, making sure to reset all decks and the primary review options under the settings tab. However, when I am actually in the learning mode, it will not give me the “fill in” option, no matter what I do. I have tried everything. I went back and changed the settings again, logged out and logged back in, and restarted; nothing works. Not sure what I am missing, but it seems to be a glitch.

Can we please have more larger options for font size?

I use a 10.5 inch iPad, and even with the largest font setting, I struggle to read the furigana.

Can you make it so that when reading through a section (example sentences, for example) on a grammar point, switching away from the app and back on iOS doesn’t automatically scroll back to the top of the section?

I frequently switch apps and it’s quite distracting when I lose my place

Recently I came back to Bunpro and was super confused how to find breakdown by SRS. In stats page it was actually called “Breakdown by Streak” and recently changed to “Breakdown by SRS”. I had no idea “streak” meant SRS here, so I kept looking for stats in other places.

Now that it was changed, can we also change “Streak Average Over Time” to “Average SRS Over Time”, so it matches the other one and is more clear? Thank you!

A way to skip items from a deck would be useful.

I’m learning the N5 grammar deck. I’m also learning the Yotsuba deck.

I’m getting on well with the Yotsuba vocab, but I’m having trouble with the N4 grammar points that it is introducing.

I’d like to be able to skip the Yotsuba grammar items as they come up, and return to them later.

Little late to this reply, but on my mobile app, if I input an incorrect answer, I am able to find my mistake(Often a mistype) and correct it. Which I absolutely love, especially for the longer conjugations. Could his actually be implemented for the web side too?

Unless this is a bug in which case, please do not fix it lol

Perhaps add a section where it explains mathematical symbols like x, +, - etc and a brief explanation of how the JP maths system works.

Also an explanation of just symbols in generals

Option to learn deck items in custom order/deck order. Currently there’s no option for this, leading items in learn queue to be introduced out of order. Not immediately helpful if following a deck for anime episodes or novel chapters

Would you consider adding music or song as a “type” for vocab decks?

Reason - I’m trying to learn the vocab for the lyrics of a song.
Would be nice to have it as a type.

it already is though?

Not sure how they chose it tho lmao misc maybe?

(on mobile, android)

It bothers me slightly that the “Back” button during lessons has an arrow pointing to the right, but if you click it the screen slides to the left.

The “Next” button also points to the right and that makes sense with the screen movement to the right.

I see this all the time and it bugs me too, and have been meaning to post about it. I’ve, on more than one occasion, hit the wrong back button or been confused because of the Arrow direction.

Also on the mobile app for Android:

Is there a way to individually turn off furigana for a vocab (for all future sentences)?

On the website I can click the vocab and turn it off when I start to get comfortable with the kanji. But I can’t do that on mobile

you just tap it and it goes away. theres no check box, but if you do it before the sentence reveal/card flip/ answer, you can see it disappear. it wont show up again.

although i have run into a thing where any word containing the same kanji also has its furigana reveal settings changed. even if its a different word and reading :man_shrugging:

I see!! I was wondering if it was only temporary, similar to hovering over the word on the website

It would be nice to be able to do reviews specifically in beginner, adept, seasoned, expert, and master. It would help those of us that have a lot of reviews but can’t seem to get to some cards because they are burying themselves so far down.

hey there
you can choose what order reviews appear in by going into a review session and clicking the top left cogwheel

mastered reviews however dont show up in reviews. but you can practice them specifically though cram session

There are times when, even with ghosts, I am unable to retain grammar points. This is especially true after my last break. If I notice I’m not making any progress, then I will try to remove it from my reviews and come back to it later once I feel comfortable enough to tackle more lessons.

This is fine with normal reviews, but if I decide to remove during a ghost review, I don’t get the option in the details tab.

If I “Open in a new tab” and remove from reviews, I get an error and lose all progress that I made in the session.

My workaround would just be to wait until the session is over, but I’m forgetful (otherwise I wouldn’t have a billion ghosts in the first place ).

Is there a way to simply remove items from my reviews while being slain by a ghost?
Thank you for your time!

Currently on the mobile app, when doing vocabulary reviews (in manual translate mode), the audio for the words doesn’t play after introducing the right answer (as it does in the website). Would it be possible to enable it? I find it extremely useful when doing reviews.
