It should move on, without seeing the correct answer. You can consider the purpose of hitting enter a second time as confirming that you really did get it wrong before moving on. You can see the correct answer by pressing the ‘See Answer’ button, hitting the A-key on your keyboard, or scrolling down to see the relevant grammar point.

During a review session, if you confirm that you got an answer wrong it will return at the end of that session, so you should always have a chance to check the correct answer and details.

The idea here is that you will have another chance to review the same question at the end of the session and try it again. How you want to approach this is up to you, but for many people they do not want to see the answer after their first failed attempt and want to try again at answering at the end of the session. You can, of course, still check the answer when you get it wrong initially, or you can opt to check the details of what you got wrong when it comes back at the end of the review session.

Perhaps how all this works is a bit confusing. I’ll bring it up with the team to see if there is anything we may be able to do in the future to make it clearer.

Not sure if this has been requested before, but something that would be extremely useful for me is some indication of how much time I’ve studied per day. I passed N2 in 2017 and I’m wanting to pass N1 this December, but I went most of the time in between without studying anything or using Japanese at all so I’m in intensive review mode right now, and I have a pretty specific amount of time I’m wanting to spend on different aspects of Japanese study. The problem is, I have literally no idea how much time I spend reviewing with Bunpro because I get a trickle of reviews throughout the day and I always just try to do them right away. Seeing the time it take me to review my anki decks each day is pretty vital so that I can adjust new cards accordingly.

A suggested improvement is to sift out duplicate (or triplicate etc.) English translations of vocab.
I’ve already reported quite a few of these over time, but it would be good to fix systematically, rather than chipping away at the iceberg :slight_smile:

For example, this vocab includes “to handle” three times in its English translations and “to treat” twice (as well as “to treat A as B”):

Hrm, I can’t really make sense of this. It might be different for vocabulary but for grammar I find I either know it or I don’t - if I don’t know it now I won’t know it later either. Because of this, if I don’t know it then I don’t know it - there’s no value (for me personally) in telling me later instead of now, and testing me again just demotivates me.

What I’ve finally realised is that I can avoid this by clicking “show answer” and then just pressing enter again without going back and answering the correct answer. For some reason I didn’t realise that was what I should do - I was treating it as “this is the answer and now you should enter it before you move on” and didn’t realise I could do otherwise.

But it would still be really nice if there was an option to make the enter button show the answer first instead of marking as incorrect. For someone who wants to use it this way it’s to easy to press it by mistake, and the right way do it is hard to discover. (It’s taken me a couple of weeks.)

I think this might not be possible for Bunpro. (I’m not a Bunpro staff member and is just my personal opinion.)

Bunpro uses JMDict as the dictionary and those duplicates are in the dictionary.

I would like to see vocabulary lists grouped by similar usage or meaning. I think this is very helpful for language learners because it creates associative language pattern recognition. Currently, the large list of JLPT vocab is fine, but separating the lists into related terms might help with faster learning and stronger recall/memorization

I assume the problem isn’t the duplicates in the detailed definition area, but that they’re also duplicated in the concatenated string used as the definition when one is reviewing. The fix to that, I believe, would be trivial.

Request adding in an audio-only mode. Strangely this exists for cram sessions but not for reviews. I had another thread on this but it seems this isn’t a feature right now. The best you can do atm is set reviews to reading and just look away from the screen when clicking on the play audio button.

I think while reviewing, it would be useful to be able to select an individual kanji within a word to see its general meaning/readings and other common words which include the kanji. That way I can associate it with a meaning and when seeing other words with the same kanji I’ll hopefully be able to infer the meaning!

I’m bumping this because it’s really useful. Sometimes I’ll press correct too fast and regret not at least listening to the audio, but I can’t really go back. Or I’ll accidentally go too fast and click correct on something that should be wrong. Going back and adjusting it afterwards is slow. On anki I just press ctrl-Z and the previous card comes right back as if nothing happened and I can give it another listen or press the correct fail/pass.

Though it took me a while to see that the faces in the background aren’t random squiggles :joy:

Yeah, that was a sudden and surprising change :sweat_smile: Coming back from reviews and all of a sudden my mainpage looks quite different. In my color scheme the new part looks greyed out, like an unclickable button or something :sweat_smile: I’m in support of matching the color scheme.

@Chimmsen This is part of a larger update we will be releasing in the next couple days. The main reason it isn’t matching is because the streak icon will become that color to indicate you preserved it and then would be invisible.

We are also adding a little toggle icon so you can see the image and not have to guess at what it is.

Also liking the updated Profile Card component!

Just a note that when the update initially loaded, something seemed off with the styles—some of the colors appeared inverted, almost like a high-contrast version. Hard refresh didn’t fix it, but toggling my style setting to another style and back seemed to fix it. Just sharing in case anyone else runs into it.
