Feedback - Suggested Improvements/Feature Request

It would be an amazing help to me if I were able to tap a word while doing the grammar SRS and have the UI pull up the translation of that word only. I often want to try piecing together the sentence myself but can’t understand it without knowing one or two unknown words, but have to display the full sentence translation instead.

It is possible to just plug it into Jisho, but that’s wonky and annoying when you’re using a phone. I often do my practice lying down in bed lol

Not sure if this is something that’s in the works or already been suggested, but it would be nice for cram reviews if there was a way to see which units you reviewed (i.e. the info that was collected as you selected for your cram session initially was carried over to the conclusion).

You can already click out to the cram summary of your last session to see which words you specifically tested, but this can get a little messy if you’re moving unit by unit, or lesson by lesson, through entire N levels at a time for either the Bunpro decks or any textbooks. Namely, I tend to forget which lesson I ended on and I end up poking around for too long to see which lesson I stopped my review at :sweat:

I don’t know how hard would be to implement. But would be useful to have an option of showing the meaning of words in an example sentence when clicking on them. Like the popup where we can toggle furigana, but showing what the word means in context.

Sometimes I want to know what one word means to understand the sentence without having to see the whole translation (to reinforce reading and understanding in Japanese only)

I personally use yomitan for this. Since it’s a browser extension, it works on every website.

Don’t know how hard it would be to implement, but to filter items by SRS level and do a batch reset would be a great time saver. For example:

filter all items at expert 1, select all / select x,y,z, reset to: [choose SRS level].

The only way I’ve found to do so is by using the progress tab on the dashboard and resetting each item individually, and it’s relatively time-consuming. Thanks in advance to the team!

Hi, for the review section, it would be helpful if we could choose how many hints appear before and after we answer.
For example, at first I might want no hints or only the first one. After I respond, the second or third hint such as the full translated sentence could appear so I can check whether my translation was correct.
You can do this manually now, but it would be nice to have it built in, just like the audio that plays automatically once you’ve answered.

I’m not sure if it’s been suggested before, but I would like some mock exams in the style you see on the JLPT. I know they are available in other apps and websites, but it would be nice to keep it all in one place.

While it’s helpful to know the Japanese translation word for these forms, it would be much more helpful to be able to immediately see what these forms look like when clicked. I can never remember what these linguistic designations mean.

Is there any way to make it so you don’t have to click twice to get to the 次へ button on the iOS keyboard?

@Alerean
You can use the “send” button in the textfield, it should work immediately.

@Dettorer

We’re working on our own native support for this, which will work exactly as you’ve mentioned @AlphaSteam .

It’s already available on some words, but just not all.

I’m finding it awkward to use that all the time with my left hand/thumb :rofl:

I will come up with something for the next release!

Thank you!! I wonder if maybe an option to swap the send button to the left side would be useful. There’s probably not enough people having the same issue though. Leftie troubles :sob:

Hi,

I was wondering if it’s possible to be able to paste tables in our notes for vocab/grammar cards as currently I can’t seem to do so.

Tables are helpful whenever we want to make a TLDR and compare diff points against one another.

Thanks!

that lovely + button! can’ wait for it too be implemented for more vocab :slight_smile:

Is it possible on iOS to disable the kanji/completion picker for specific inputs when using the 10-key keyboard? I currently suffer through using the English keyboard because the completions often give the answer away.

I actually want the setting for this with next release!
We might even make it into default!

Cheers!

I’ve learned to just avoid looking at the kanji and katakana recommendations. Agree that it’s really annoying! I can’t bring myself to use the Romaji keyboard though :rofl:

Hello! I’d really love a feature that lets me add or edit the translations of preset sentences in my own native language — like with the Self-Study Sentences.

Cheers!
