My feature suggestion as a data goblin is an ability to view total in each SRS level rather than just beginner, adept, seasoned, and expert somewhere.
Also, a way to see what the breakdown of forecasts based on the level would be nice to see also. Even if just a toggle for the beginner, adept, etc. classifications or average SRS level.
Hi, is there any chance that we could get an option to hide furigana by uploading a file with a list of known kanji? Or by pasting a list from clipboard or something like that
Iām sure itās been suggested before, but I wonder if itās actively being considered?
Thing is, without wanting to rely on wanikani, the only way to selectively do away with furigana is to disable it for each encountered kanji in the wild, which can get tiresome. Still happy that itās at all possible, but it would be nice to see a better option at some point!
It would be nice if the review spacing was randomly offset for a small number of reviews to diffuse them across the timeline a bit better. That is ~20% of reviews are offset by one day earlier or later.
The way the adept spacing works (1, 2, 4, 8) days means that if you miss one day youāll have āwavesā of reviews piling up every 4 days.
Greetings.
I think it would be a good idea that instead of deciding between reading, fill in, translating or listening for reviews you could pick multiple of those.
Each way of reviewing focuses more on one side of the language so why not mix them up and have the reviews come randomly in the types you selected. I believe itās more beneficial for learning that way rather than just focusing on one type of review.
Hello Bunpro.
Thereās a feature to automatically hide/blur English translations, like so:
But when itās on, it also hides āUnnatural Japaneseā notes. I find this quite confusing.
Iād like to request that āUnnatural Japaneseā note is clearly marked somehow even when the translation is blurred, for example like so:
A lot of example sentences fall into common categories:
- Manga/anime
- Novels
- News report
- Political/economic
- Global/culture
- Home life
- School life
etc.
As someone who uses the reading mode a lot, it would be fun/helpful if the sentences were categorised as such, and your success rate on each given category was tracked. This way I can identify strengths/weaknesses with studying.
Huuuge agree. Being able to randomize between fill in the blank and read/self-grade would really be helpful.
In this section of the dashboard I can choose to:
- learn from a specific deck
- review all grammar
- review all vocab
However, I would appreciate the ability to also:
- review from a specific deck
This is because sometimes I just want to review N5 vocab, or N4 vocab.
The workaround is to open the decks page first, but doing it from this dashboard section would be preferable.
Right now thereās a significant inconsistency in the degree of conjugation that some cloze cards require; while most cards will accept either the conjugation of the word that the cardās sentence explicitly calls for or the dictionary form of the word, there are also some that will only accept the precise conjugation called for by the cardās sentence.
I prefer to enter the dictionary form of the words when I do my reviews, and the maority of cards accept that input; this does however lead to a significant number of irritating false negative submissions when I stumble across one of the more specific card. Combine this with the fact that it is impossible to manually roll back a review, and my learning metrics for some cards wind up corrupeted to the point of uselessness.
Is there a review pass planned to standardize the required responses across all cards?
+1 for this.
There are a few features that could benefit from a consistency review (see also my comment about the ordering of possible answers: Feedback - Suggested Improvements/Feature Request - #3696 by discopatrick ).
In fact, my comment and @C77A1 ās are closely related.
Toggling between Forecast and Activity on the iOS dashboard is really frustrating. A lot of the time I accidentally end up moving the graph position when I try to swipe across.
This is minor but the recentish update to Wanikani made me think of it, and its not at all important, but would it be possible to alter the dashboard? To have like my forecast above the Learn or Reviews, and maybe even make them different sizes similar to widgets.
When submitting review answers on the app, itās easily possible to outrun the submission process. If the submit button is pressed twice in quick succession, the app assumes that the user is trying to submit a ādonāt knowā answer, and the review is marked as incorrect. There should probably be a check implemented to ensure that the user has not already input a potentially valid answer in the field before the answer is listed as incorrect.
On the Content>Grammar List page, I would expect Options>N5, N4, etc. to filter the displayed grammar such that it shows grammar from N5, N4 or whatever selection you make.
Right now, once you select any of these options all the displayed grammar disappears, and you are only left with the search option. My preferred use of this page is to be able to scroll through, for example, all the N4 grammar without having to scroll through all the N5 grammar first.
The UI here seems a bit inconsistent/unintuitive because if you try to select the āAllā option again, none of the grammar re-appears, and you have to refresh the page to see the entire list again.
Greetings
- A filter for common words on search.
Some words have a tag called ācommonā. I think it would be nice if we were able to search only words with that tag (or without it why not).
- A tag for words already on our reviews / active deck on search with a filter as well.
Feature Suggestion
There might be a feature like this already and I just havenāt found it yet, but similar to how WaniKani has a critical item list + shows all the mistakes youāve made in the past 24 hrs.
It would be nice to have a running list of the grammar points I continue to mess up on posted somewhere in the dash board or have an option for that.
In addition, having the ability to do a cram session with those points may be nice too.
You can make a quick cram sessions for ghosts. So if you turn your ghost settings up a little, you can quickly make a cram list! Takes about 4 days to clear a ghost.
(But if you turn up your ghosts all the way, the ācram missed itemsā is already pre-built in to your srs schedule :D)
Itād be great if the horizontal/vertical toggle on the reading practice could follow as the page gets scrolled down for easy comparison, especially when one wants to reveal the translation to check their understanding. Itās tedious to have to scroll all the way back up.
I saw the post about vocabulary translations and wanted to ask about the current status. About two years ago, it was mentioned that the feature was around 80% complete, but it seems there are still quite a few words without translations.
Iām also curious about the order in which the feature is being rolled out. I couldnāt identify a clear pattern in the N5āN1 vocabulary or within example sentences ā sometimes one word is translated while another in the same sentence is not. Is there a specific system or logic behind this?
Some meta-feedback: I feel like a lot of my posts in this thread havenāt received a heart from BunPro staff lately, compared to my bug reports which almost always get a heart, and this is leaving me wondering whether the posts are being heard or the ideas are being recorded somewhere. Some acknowledgement would encourage me to keep posting ideas!
