summary

Coughing and sneezing and such send out bad things. The virus becomes the cause of illness, coughing and sneezing are [done for] the sake of getting out microorganisms that try to enter form the nose and throat. It is done strongly to remove them from the body.

Things written for kids can be oddly difficult sometimes. I kind of felt the same way with NHK Easy where things would feel kind of oversimplified to the point of being difficult to understand.

September 23rd Translation

Notes :
In long sentences like this, sometimes it can be difficult to pinpoint that the subject is. For the first sentence we can see that 出るのが is highlighting something, so the ‘thing’ that it is highlighting is more then likely going to be the most natural subject when translated.

Translation attempt

Everyday at that workplace, to continue looking at one’s physique and data within has increased special skill.

Edit: Forgot about the grammar point completely at my first attempt, haha. Not sure if the edit even helps since I think I’m getting the sentence order jumbled up.

Just got back from camping with a couple of friends. Glad I could take part today before getting my hands on Japanese homework that’s due tomorrow :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yet another rushed translation

Rough : Everyday at place of work, Physique’s data keep looking at among to arrive at special skill.
Natural : It’s a skill I have developed by looking at the physical data every day at work.

Also, @asher, might want to fix the ト to hiragana as to not confuse anyone who’d use the sentence instead of the image

Your special skill is to go every day to that working area and gaze at your body metrics.

(I’m really not sure about this one, 正解を待ち望んでいる)
Edit: whoa, looks like @mathijsdm already cracked this one, your translation looks perfect to me. Good job!

Summary

The main grammar point here is: verb stem + 続ける - some action continues
続ける - is continuing 見続けてる - lit. is continuing to see/watch

verb/adj + 内に - while

ついた -past tense of つく to be attached, but also when talking about things like skills (e.g.特技) it can convey the meaning of having learned or acquired some ability/skill

Notes :
For this translation, the main point to focus on is 特技, as everything in the sentence before that point is describing it. In Japanese, when you’re not sure what the focus of the sentence is, sometimes the best way is to find the main word, and then slowly work backwards.

Notes :
Great job with this translation everyone! Adj限り is one of the least common usages of 限り, but the meaning is relatively consistent with ‘as much as possible’. So it is a great grammar point to be familiar with when reading novels!
