What? Did you wake up the whole team?

T

Huh? Did I just accidentally wake everyone up?

The stack exchange link mentions bot かい and なんだい are specific to Kanto-region masculine speech. Does this sound correct?

Been away for a few days so broke my GITW “streak”

Summary

“Oh crap, is everyone already up?”

I’m not sure what this conjugation is or meaning:
起きちまった

Summary

It’s a compound of 起きて + ちまった . ちまった is the た-form of ちまう (which again is 関東弁 (Kantou-Ben) for しまう) It can basically mean either “to do completely” or “to do by accident”.

Ah 関東弁 gets me again.

Summary

てしまう/ちゃう is what I thought it may have been, but it wasn’t quite the same, so I left it out thinking it could be something different.

Thanks for the clarification

Notes :
Something you may notice in manga and novels is the rare usage of ? . Actually, question marks are not required at all in Japanese to highlight questions, and are considered ‘decoration’ (used only to highlight things that are not obviously questions). In formal writing, ? will rarely be used over か, and there are no situations where the omission of ? would be considered a gramattical error.

The manga translation, due to slang and (kana?), I think it is very difficult.

Unless I’m misunderstanding, I thought かの was a typo of かな

Notes :
While -ization/-ification are good ways to think of 化, sometimes the translation can be a little bit more challenging. Such as in this case, we wouldn’t say ‘costification’. Watch out for phrases like this that may not be able to be directly translated into English (in one word).
