“Maybe I must try to stop”… this could mean that you strongly owe it to yourself to try, but to me this combination of 信じている, たぶん, なくては sounds a little contradictory. I might be totally overthinking it though.

Under the influence of a certain YouTuber, I have come to see the expression “your Japanese is nice” as a sign of failure. But lately I’ve been thinking that maybe it’s just a compliment.

Thank you for the feedback. The sentence originated because a friend of mine who has been studying for much longer claimed I can not convey existential dread using N5/N4 grammar. How would you have said it differently?
