You can use 言われた、伝われた but passive will make it sound like this is not a pleasant announcement.

I’ve been told at work to take my job more seriously. (passive implies unpleasantness)
If the information is neutral/positive, it might be better to just use 聞いた.
来週親戚が来ると妻から聞きました。
My wife told me that relatives are coming next week.
父は「ここはどこ？」と聞きました。「来い」と声が響きました。父はその方に見ました。「ええ、おじいさん？何が起こったの？」と戸惑って問いました。
