Have you written your Japanese Sentence today?

今日は 「むしろ」、「~ずつ」と「ずっと ②」勉強した。

SF6の迫真グラフィックスより、むしろKoFやGuilty Gearのグラフィックスのほうが好き。
けど新しいアナウンサーとしろシングルプレイヤーモードたのしむ。

Translation:

Rather than Street Fighter 6s realistic graphics I prefer KoF’s or Guilty Gears Graphics.
But I am looking forward to the new announcers and Singleplayer Mode.

What are you going for with the としろ construction, there?
Also, 楽しむ only means to enjoy yourself (as far as I know). You’re looking for the adjective variant, 楽しみ, which you can use as が楽しみです or を楽しみにしている for a broadly similar “looking forward to something” meaning (there are differences in nuance/uses, but I’m afraid I won’t explain them here, haha).

昨日は「むしろ」、「~ずつ」と「ずっと ②」勉強した。

日本語を上手なりたい。そのために毎日文法少しずつ勉強しよう。

Translation:

I want to be better at japanese. For that purpose I learn grammar each day little by little.

I am trying to use むしろ as described in the bottom part here, where it is combined with より to compare two things.

今日、「~てくれる」と「~てもらう」と「~なさい」を勉強しました。

「電気を消してくれる?…ねえ、私を聞いた?電気を消してもらってほしい。…おい、消してなさい!」

Translation

“Can you turn off the light? …Hey, did you hear me? I want you to turn off the light…Hey, turn it off!”

Coming up with these sentences to fit all of the grammar points in one is kinda hard sometimes lol.

の下で、恐れがある

逮捕された政治家の下で働いた職員には、彼の犯罪の巻き添えの恐れがあります。

There is a chance that employees who worked under the arrested politician may be mixed up in his crimes.

を中心に

彼は、宇宙が自分を中心に回っていると思い気に振舞っている。

He’s acting as though he thinks the universe revolves around him.

This sounds really hard but I will give it a shot!

今日、新しい単語は学びました。

Translation:

Today I learned new words./Today I learned a new word.

一昨日は「むしろ」、「~ずつ」と「ずっと ②」勉強した。

最近ずっとあまりDBFZをプレイした。このゲームまだずっと勉強ことがあるけど、ゲームを良くなることは大切なことはないとおもう。例えば私自身は大切なことは芸術とか痩せるとか。

Translation:

Recently I played way too much DBFZ. There is still much to learn in that game, but I think getting better at games is not important. For example for me personally Art and losing weight are important. (among other things)

[So here is a bit unclear for me. For one I don’t know whether it is ok to combine ずっと and あまりthe way I did to express something along the lines of way too much. Also I am not sure if I needed to nominalize the よくなる in order to use it with ことはない、the sentence feels and looks wrong to me, but I can’t say why exactly.]

@Nefarim Nice to have you here. If you stick with it You will definitely get faster creating japanese sentences if not better
There are lots of helpful folks here giving useful pointers and corrections. Sadly I am not one of them, because my japanese is way too shaky to give others advise.

@Wippo Just gonna address your nominalisation concern quick (not got a lot of time). こと itself nominalises a verb, so from that point of view, you don’t need to worry about using any こと constructions with verbs. Also, I noticed you used 勉強こと in your sentence. 勉強 is already a noun (most, if not all, kanji compounds you see with する appended are already nouns without する), so you don’t need to use こと.

Hope that helped!

蜘蛛の立場から言うと全ては大きいようだ。

Translation

From a Spiders Point of view everything must be big.

[I am getting more confident in my japanese writing abilities, so I have more time doing some formatting fluff.

@eoghandall thanks for your concise explanation. I seem to have been too eager with nominalization. So from that information I reckon I neither needed it for 良くなる as the こと is already present in ことはない nor 勉強 as that already is a noun.

@danabekk welcome to the forums, you have chosen the best topic to do your first post in if you ask me ;)]

今日、「~てくれない」と「~のだろうか」と「お~になる」を勉強しました。

今日の文はちょっと遅いから、お読みになってくれないのだろうか。

Today’s sentence is a little late, so I wonder if you will read it for me.

今日は「ことか」、「んだって」と「に取って」勉強した。

Translation

God knows how much I played Blazblue during my youth.

ポケモンScarletとVioletの新しいポケモンLechonkは名前のお陰で人気んだって
[edited, thanks eoghandall]

Translation

I heard that the new Pokémon Lechonk in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is popular thanks to its name.

今僕に取ってBnBコンボは容易けど、始めは難しかった。
[edited, thanks eoghandall]

Translation

Now BnB Combos are easy for me, but in the beginning they were difficult.

@Wippo You’ve got the order for おかげで mixed up in your second sentence. Think of it as the thing coming after being thanks to the thing coming before. 名前おかげで人気. Also, when んだ comes after a noun, it’s なんだ, so なんだって. 難しいだった should be 難しかった.

を契機に

古代ギリシアとローマの美術や哲学の再発見を契機に、欧州の中世が終わって、ルネサンスと呼ばれている時代が始まりました。

The rediscovery of ancient Greek and Roman art and philosophy marked the end of the European Middle Ages and the beginning of the period known as the Renaissance.

をめぐって

政治家同士に細かいことをめぐって議論があるにしても、一般的に経済システムといった理念について賛成している。

Even though politicians argue amongst themselves about the finer points, they are typically in agreement on principles such as the economic system.

おまけに

今日は今までに今年の一番暑い日になるらしい。おまけに、昨日の夜大雨が降ったから、非常に湿っぽいはずだ。

I heard that today will be the hottest day of the year so far. On top of that, since it rained heavily last night, I expect it’ll be extremely humid.

今日は「さえ」、「しかない」と「というより」勉強した。

今日はDBFZの青い(SSGSS)Gokuちゃんと叩かれた、だってその特別の投擲防ぐことを知るのさえなかった。
そのために投擲防ぐことを練習する。今これは簡単だ。

Translation:

I was beaten propelz by DBFZs “blue” (SSGSS) Goku today, because I didn’t even know how to defend against his special throw. For that purpose I practiced defending the throw. Now it is easy.

[A common problem I encounter is that I don’t know how to properly continue the topic of the last sentence without repeating it entirely. I tried using これ in the third sentence to avoid saying 投擲防ぐこと again, but I am not sure if I can use it that way. Any pointers are appreciated]

@Wippo You mentioned earlier you had difficulties knowing when to omit a subject. Your first sentence is a good example of a situation where you can drop it completely. You already specified that you’re talking about SF6, so in your second half you can just say 発売は2023だ。In general you don’t need to restate a subject unless you’re talking about it at length, for emphasis, or you’re introducing a new subject. I also think it’s more natural to append けど to したい here instead of having it in the second clause.

未だに

2級の文法をすべて勉強し抜いたが、例文で出てきたらわかるにしても未だに使えないことが多く残っています。

I have completely studied all of N2’s grammar, but even now there remains a lot of grammar that I cannot use, even though I can understand it in example sentences.

たった

戦闘の生き残りがたった一人しかいなかった。

There was only one survivor of the battle.

たちまち

雨が止んだかと思ったら、たちまち空が落ちているかのように重くなった。

Just when I thought the rain had stopped, it suddenly became so heavy it was as though the sky was falling.

And with that, I’ve finished the N2 grammar! Now all I need to do is focus down vocab and keep up with my reviews. Wish me luck on the exam next month!
