I am a bit confused of its ますますmeaning compared to どんどん and だんだん。
どんどん is used for rapid changes, whereas だんだん is used for slower changes. But what about ますます is it used for any kind of changes? Or is it used for medium changes, or also for either slow or rapid changes? The site states it is used to emphasize trends, is that the only nuance?

Note as to not spoiler the sentence above

I say that, but honestly the difference seem to be in how its applied. ますます is used before an entire phrase, whereas 一方だ is used after a noun, so actually there is way less confusion on my part than with どんどん and だんだん.
