Have you written your Japanese Sentence today?

Cheers for the corrections! I’ve edited the post accordingly. That ま getting away from me somehow was a big doof, haha.

If you press the cog on the far right of the textbox header (sorry, not sure if there’s a proper term for that…), you can choose “Hide Details” and plonk your translation under that!

Ohh, I see! おめおつ!I have a couple of friends who are super into fighting games, who really enjoy it, but I haven’t played a fighting game myself in years, haha.

well you could say 上手プレイヤー but that is also not colloquial although I can’t point out what is wrong with that pairing. Especially in the context of going up in the rank and being qualified to play with more elite level players than before I think 優秀なプレイヤー is the best. (well, unless after rank up you are still going to play against slightly more skilled beginners).

Hm, maybe. I also have to point out that しえる doesn’t seem to exist and it should be し得る (しうる)ー source . At least しうる seems to be preferred over しえる .

Well in speech sometimes it is ok to omit particles, but that kind of speech doesn’t mix well with very formal grammar constructions 得る is commonly used in formal writing. (apart from two set phrases that are common in speech like あり得る and あり得ない)

Looking at your updated post couple of other things popped into my head

now that there is two times こと in a sentence, what about 時々全然理解できなさそう?

I think here 「推し」という言葉を is implied, right? then I guess it should be 使い始めた.

ナイキャ!Did some more tweaking, haha. Cheers for the help! It’s been a bit since I’ve tried writing anything more longform in Japanese.

Gonna fix these sentences now, thanks iriar.
昇進の 試合を勝った.
優秀なプレイヤーとブレイブルーをプレイし.

Chat GPT says I can express promotion match as 昇段試合, but I don’t trust that as particles are still missing, though at the very least 昇段 is another way to say promotion.
Seems this tool is not as useful as I hoped for either Language learning or Fighting Games.
However it is useful for asking how to do specific things in specific programms (eg. Photoshop).

昨日はChatGPTを使って始めた。研究をするてめに、便利そうだけど、出所は足りない。
また色々な話題の情報は足りない。例えば格ゲーのコンボと聞いたら、返事は正しくない。

今日は凝乳を食べたり、うんどうをしたり「Core Gamer Treff」へいったり。

Translation:

Yesterdy I used Chat GPT for the first time. It seems useful for doing research, but the sources are insufficient. Even more the knowledge in various topics is insufficient. For Example if you ask for fighting game combos, the reply is wrong.

Today I will do things like eating curd, excercising and going to “Core Gamer Treff”.

The first paragraph is prolly quite iffy, any help is appreciated.

昇段試合 is valid. I guess the particle is optional, but it is definitely not used in regards to computer games. Seems only to be used for actual martial arts. I guess I was wrong forcing particle there.

GhatGPT is very useful if you adjust your expectations. It doesn’t know anything so you shouldn’t rely on anything that it produces. For things it “knows” there is a big disclaimer that it was trained on data snapshot dated as of late 2019 so it is not aware of anything newer and it might still give wrong answers because it lacks actual understanding of the subject. What it does is basically produces a speech that is very similar to human speech (but not necessarily correct. Humans can bullsh*t too.) So take with a huge grain of salt whatever it says. It can also write some code too, in a way it is translating from human speech to computer language.

Remember that たり is a conjunction particle. Sounds like you were interrupted when listing things you were going to do. I will leave the last sentence for you to tweak :stuck_out_tongue:
使って始めた → 使い始めた
研究をするてめに → 研究をするめに
出所は足りない → I am not sure what were you going to say here, not even after looking at English translation. It lacks data sources? It is not a knowledge data base, so don’t expect that.
また色々な話題の情報は足りない → まだ色んなことの知識が足りない?
聞いたら → 聞いてみたら? 問い合わせしてみたら?
うんどう → 運動

I learnt a lot of japanese words today.

Thanks for all your help. I am a bit in a japanese slump, so I will just skip the correction of these particular mistakes and try to move forward with simpler things to get back into the habit of writing daily and learning new grammar every now and then rather than just doing reviews.

今日は「ものなら」を勉強した。

三か月の休みを取れるものなら、取ってみたい。(edited: thanks for iariar for correction)

Translation:

If I could take 3 monhts of vacation , I’d like to do it.

I don’t understand why this grammar points structure is described as
Verb[できる]+ ものなら + Phrase

when most of the sentences in the explanation and examples don’t use できる at all.

That’s because this grammar calls for verb in potential form or できる
In your example I think it should be
三か月の休みを取れるものなら、取ってみたい。
It literally means “if that’s something that could be done, then…”

RedBubble.comで絵を売ってみろうと思う。(edited, thanks to suugakusan for the correction)

translation:

I think I will try to sell drawings on Red Bubble.com.

今日の文章はこれだよ:「今先に文章を書いたことがないんだけど、書いているから近くそれが違う。

翻訳 (Translation)

Today’s sentence is this: “Before now I have not written a sentence, but since I’m writing now it will be different soon.”

I think you would want to say: 「RedBubble.comで絵を売ってみろうと思う。」That’s because 「みる」 in this context is written without kanji and you have to use the volitional form.

I could be wrong, since I’m not very advanced in Japanese, but I hope it is helpful nonetheless.
