Anyway I think the tell is something like “usually used in writing.”
But it is funny that they differentiate なくてはならない, なくてはいけない, なければいけない, etc but are like, “what are ya feelin today pal? なくちゃ? なきゃ? Dealers choice buddy”

The distinctions between all the different registers of なくてはいけない at the top of the thread are subtle enough that I don’t think an N3-level speaker could be expected to know them. I’ve never thought of them as more or less polite/formal, just a manner of personal style, what you think sounds good, etc. Maybe that’s wrong, and I’ve just been getting by on the gaikokujin card, but nonetheless it seems like a distinction that would come up when you’re cramming for N1, not N5.
Kind of a drawback to the structure of Bunpro honestly, but I would feel no shame about hitting backspace until I got the right one in that situation.
