Immersion Log has different scoring than “Let’s Walk Together”

  1. base rate is 2 XP per minute
  2. JJ - looking up words in weblio or another Japanese source [I recomend for N3+]x2
  3. if it is designed for 外国人 [textbooks, graded readers, Japanese class ect] ÷2
  4. if you are shadowing audio [echoing what you hear] x2
  5. A day I don’t study is -5XP

I count my reviews at .5XP/分, because that isn’t immersion.

When I follow a Japanese recipe, thats 12XP - cause it takes 3 minutes to read the recipe [6]- and I figure out new words in Japanese by looking at the pictures on cookpad or image searchx2 [12].

Manga, Anime, talking to my friends are 2XP/分

Video games are 1XP/分 unless I read all the dialogue - [Usally I skip the dialogue then read the summary in the log if I have to].

Today I’ve tried to immerse by reading on Tadoku site that has many stories. I haven’t gave up after one minute, so this could be considered my first successful attempt in immersion.

I also started watching this super awesome Minecraft gameplay for Japanese learners! But, since my attention span is not that great, I did not finish it (yet).

I have done 1 hour and 11 minutes of watching anime in Japanese with Japanese subtitles on.

(I also have done 1 hour and 30 minutes of immersing in German, but that is off-topic.)

I have finished the Let’s Learn Japanese with Minecraft! #1 – Immersion & Comprehensible Input !
I might watch more and read more today, because it is still lunch time, but I am not doing that well physically and mentally, so I do not want to push it.

So far in June:
I watched an episode of way of the house husband 極主夫道 20m
I tried a Native relationship Advice podcast. Each word was clear, but I couldn’t follow at all 10m
So I went back to Let’s Learn Japanese from small Talk. I listened for like an hour at work 20m
I read 6 pages of When Marnie was There in 30m

today: the NHK easy news article about rice prices. I typically don’t manage that well yet, but this article specifically appears to have a lot of very early vocab if you’re going by some core-deck

Today, I have watched the first episode of this Stardew Valley gameplay. Highly considering turning my game’s language into Japanese, but my gameplay is kind of far at this point, so I might miss loads of dialoque… But still, I am considering it.

If you liked that episode the entire finished series (56 regular episodes, 14 specials) is available to download on this site. I think it should be okay for me to mention it here since I’m just linking to the website in general, not a specific piece of media.
That site is a goldmine for Japanese variety shows, if you like idol groups.
