Performed kabuki and updated my profile pic to my Kabuki face.
Spoke alot of Japanese at the Enkai.
Watched Japanese dub of Moana on TV
Read 60 pages of Manga at a manga cafe.
And my 1 year of bunpro subscription is up.
I might keep up this immersion log, maybe once a week.
My Japanese Goal is by the end of my Jet contract (August 2026) I know enough Japanese that I could do the Job I had in the US- inventory management of a factory
I got my 葬送のフリーレン in paper a 3 days ago and successfully read though first 90 pages with little to know problems without looking up anything.
Nice. I also have all 13 volumes in my bookshelf, or well one is on my bedside table.
It just sucks that the shipping cost to Sweden was almost as much as the books themselves. 7,500￥ for the books, 5,500￥ to ship.

I just finished the first tome of よつばと because I want to catch up on the beginner book club, and I really loved it! Usually, it takes me forever to get through books in japanese and it’s either easy but boring or interesting but too hard; and I always give up after a few pages, but this one was awesome ! I’ve never read something with such ease? Such a great recommendation! It helped me gain confidence, at some point I stopped double checking everything because it was so fun I forgot I was immersing, which has never happened to me before. Sorry for the rambling, I’m so happy!!! Really grateful for the book club 
I read half of hitori gohan. I picked it up at a convience store
each chapter is about someone going out to eat by their self. and I thing many are ads for real resturants
Chapater 2: boyfriend of two years eats her caviar, and the lunch she packed for work. the confrontation is the best part
She eats lunch out and orders the caviar she’s craving, then goes out again the next day with her friend and recounts all the drama.
I’m watching ソマリと森の神様 anime without subs. Watched episode 5 yesterday.
In unrelated news- I got an email from the internet company that my application has been denied. 
I’ll go apply to a different company today.

I’ve joined the Winter Read Every Day Challenge on Wanikani forums and so far, I’m (almost) reading every day. While I’m still reading stuff aimed at learners (Tadoku, Satori Reader) I’m getting a little bit braver and reading easier native material. I still have my big manga haul from my visit to Japan from last year to get through. Plus, I’ve finally started to buy stuff on Bookwalker and now have several manga and kids ebooks. I would rather have physical books, but it’s so much cheaper and convenient to buy ebooks. (And space. I really am running out of room for books!)

I understood some of the jokes on a comedy competion. If the judge likes your joke you get a cushion, if they don’t they’ll take your cushion away.
The Local Kitchen. They went around to local farmers and showed 3 recipies for each vegi. 1 is oden and 3 is salad for tomato, onion, renkon and cauliflour.
Successfully got a wired internet contract! They will install in Febuary. Learned 工事 (installing the wire) and 申し込む(application)
Did writing from quartet with a volunteer tutor.
I finished off reading がんばれ! 名犬チロリ this morning (37 pages), and I’ll probably watch at least one episode of からかい上手の高木さん after dinner tonight.
This weekend I read a whole manga volume of blue exorcist and 3 episodes of Jujutsu Kaizen.
I tried exporting from Language Reactor to Anki, but struggled.
Any exporting advice?
The CSV was empty- so I made the cards with the ‘add’ button in anki.
I used the mp3 from the media folder, copied the Japanese sub from the “saved” tab, and added the Japanese definition from https://thesaurus.weblio.jp/
A regular yomitan + anki connect setup should work with Language Reactor. If you don’t want to mine whilst watching then you can open the entire script in a new tab (via Language Reactor) and go through it before/afterwards and mine from there. Hope that helps!
K, I downloaded a JJ thesaurus from here Japanese - Google Drive
that I put into yomitan. Oh, this is so cool, in has a chart of synonyms explaining when they are the same “o”, and when they are different “-”.
I looked up 驚く and I already know びっくりする. So now I can not only “its kinda like びっくりする” but also “the difference in nuance is in something like 驚くべき事実 which wouldn’t make sense for びっくり”
The text is garbled for instance WORD|見舞ã„|ja
When I installed AnkiConnect, it said
“Anki encountered a problem please follow the trouble shooting steps. Remove an add-on”
So, I’ll go pack to copy/paste the sentence, and drag/drop the mp3

OK, It’s been 4 days, with me spending an hour a day and I only have 14 notes to show for it.
Language reactor has it’s own pop-up dictionary which supersedes yomitan.
The yomitan JJ thesaurus doesn’t have as many words as weblio
I’m using my parents desktop from 2011, and weblio won’t let me use their site cause the ad won’t load.
Instead of putting the 30 or so words from 1 episode into anki, I could have watched all of season 1. This is the reason I don’t like mining
Fortunately/Unfortunately I only have 125 vocab with from Jalup I have not learned yet, so I need to mine to continue using anki
