Thanks to the CloudFlare outage I was unable to work in the afternoon, but I was also unable to do my Bunpro reviews.

So we have:

1 Episode of “Interviewing Japan” (JP Subs version from the patreon)
1 Episode of 私を食べたい、ひとでなし
2 Episodes or しろくまカフェ

Together with my new completely overengineered setup of one-click Anki card creation (310 lines of bash code) I mined 17 sentences from those.

This weekend I will probably extend the script to not only make Anki cards but add the terms to Bunpro, too. Still have to think about how. Probably in a Wanikani sync fashion where I add the words at a high SRS stage once they’re past a certain stage in Anki, to practice both recall and recognition.

and when I called my school they asked me “何年生” so my accent can’t be THAT awful

I watched 1 episode of fruits basket and 1 episode of Blue Exorcist.
Also, I’m a 5th year Jet so I read some job postings and worked on my Japanese resume.

Youtube recommended me a comedy channel 握手の鬼. It’s voiced with TTS, but many episodes are pretty funny. Embedded JP subs.

I spent the past 12 hours watching morphman tutorials from 5 years ago instead of sleeping.
from the readablity statistics, I know 93% of the ~1600 different words in かがみの孤城 yay!
I read 7 more pages. And 2 more episodes.

Went to Japanese class Christmas Party this weekend. Everyone went around Talking about what they’re proud of this year, and what the want for Japanese class next year.

今年夏で生徒が初めて県内のスピーチコンテスト勝った。30年ぶりに勝たなかった。生徒ために嬉しい♡。
今年この授業参加しました。図書館で友達へ教えた時この教室図書館の2階集まって気をつけた。チャンス！この日、日本語教室へ参加しました。
教科書を買いました。去年読めましても1人で作文を書いてやる気足りなかった。今年2枚作文書きました。初めて文章を読みました
来年、厳しい先生から文法を教えてください。2冊文章を読もうと思います。今年雨降れたから花火を見なかった。来年花火を見るようにやりたい。

I watched this video on a toy guns magazine haha. The channel is a bookstore that often invites authors to talk about their books, magazines, journals, etc., with a mascot acting as the interviewer! There are always Japanese sub, which is soooo convenient. i just don’t understand everything haha but it’s really interesting!

I started my new project today: watching Super Dragonball Heroes with Migaku - added about 20 new words to my Deck. I also realized that, had I known those 20 additional words, I would have had no problem at all understandig the episode (like from a grammar perspective) - feels pretty good :slight_smile:

I played MiSide in English back when it came out before starting to learn Japanese. Yesterday I bought the figurine from their kickstarter and today I just started it to see if they finally implemented peaceful mode. Turns out they didn’t yet, then I jokingly set the game to Japanese and started playing it from the beginning again only to notice how incredibly simple the language is and how easy it is to follow.

Ended up playing ca. 1 hour, mined like 6 words.

I’m now on page 62 of かがみの孤城. I also went to はつもうで with Japanese friends and spent a long time Talking
@Kusabimaru I thought a bout getting megaku, but 7万円 to make anki cards is too expensive. Is it worth the price? cause there’s lots of free tools to make anki cards

Every single guide I’ve read back when I started learning Japanese essentially said the free tools are better but if you don’t want or can’t bother setting them up then migaku is a valid “all in one” option. That said, I haven’t tried migaku by myself. The free tools you mentioned pretty much cover the entirety of what I want or expect from sentence mining.

Unfortinately not. The free part is it can show 2 different subtitles at the same time, and the pop-up JE dictionary. (none of which help me now that I’m JJ) JJ dictionary is not avalible, and export to anki 1) is a mess and 2) is a premimum features…
I think I’ll stick to looking up definitions on weblio + subs2srs cards.

I paused fun immersion in the middle of november to get more serious JLPT practice and have been focusing more on school-type listening practice ever since. This to say, I haven’t been watching Digimon for more than a month and was super surprised when picking it back up today by how much of a difference it made ! I re-watched the last episode I’d seen to get back into it and understood much more than last time, it feels really good :green_heart:

Book-wise, aside from deciphering Kiki for the book club I’ve also picked back up Hikaru no Go where I left off. As with anime, it also seems a bit easier and especially less tirying. I really struggled to get though an entire chapter in one sitting at first.
