JLPT July 2026

I wish that postal code meant they’d put you at the closest center. My most convenient ones are in two other prefectures I border, but I have to go to the other side of my prefecture instead. Pain.

At least it’s N2 this time around and the morning time means I can make it home that day.

I heard they try to make it so everyone has roughly the same travel time, which is why they don’t put you at your closest test centre

That is definitely not true, or else all the people in that city would be placed elsewhere. Plus, I doubt two and a half hours minimum (by train) would be their threshold. It’s just if you’re in the prefecture, you go to that one. Alas.

Last year I applied fast and got the closest test center only about 20/25 mins away. My friend applied last minute and was sent over two hours away into the boonies.

They surely cater for the closest on first come first served basis

I also unfortunately am usually one of the first to apply. Perhaps that’s true for in-prefecture with different sites, though. Mine’s only got the one testing site.

I registered yesterday as well for N4! Just to get a feel for the exam cause I know I would be able to pass N3 in July LOL
Just waiting for payday to make the konbini payment!

Hi everyone!

I just signed up for the N3 in Japan this morning! It’s the very first JLPT I’m taking, so I’m looking at it a bit like a crash test. With my current level, I think I could pass the N4 fairly easily, so I thought, why not try the N3, even though I’m well aware of the gap between N4 and N3…

I just received the confirmation this morning that I will be taking the N1 in july ! So I’m in the last 3 months before the tests, I’m starting feelling nervous…(I didn’t take any test since like seven years ? Maybe eight I think the tests were cancelled during first year of covid)

Got my JPLT Certificate as an American finally. Does anybody when the US’s sign up for JPLT 2026 exact dates are in July or if they posted about it yet? I’m going on a Western Japan trip (Osaka, Fukui, Shikoku, Hiroshima, North/Central Kyushu) in July and I know that’s when the now only US signs up are now but I’m afraid I’m just going to miss that and not get my seat (Going for N3 certainly but might try N2 just to see for progress and probably fail miserably.)

Good luck to all of those taking the July JPLT.

The American JLPT website says: “Registration is expected to open around mid-August.” It also says that registration info will be put out at the end of July. So I think you’ll be OK - the actual registration period won’t be until Aug.

Got an email saying that my voucher should be arriving in the mail some time this week or next week! Went ahead and booked a hotel in Leuven; going the evening before and spending the night seems much more relaxed than leaving from Amsterdam the morning of and stressing about unexpected delays. A lot of hotels were already fully booked, but I found a wonderful looking small hotel which has great reviews, so I’m making it into a little mini-vacation. Can’t wait!

Now to just stick to the study plan I made… so far so good but I’m only a week in. If I follow it properly, I’ll be able to at the very least be familiar with all the grammar, and have half of July to review what needs reviewing. Not worried about kanji or vocab; kanji I’m way ahead on and vocab I’m confident in too.
I do need to do more listening practice though. Not having a convenient pause button is hard :'D

Managed to register for the N4 JLPT here in The Netherlands while waiting at the airport for my plane to Japan, lol. Happy that I can finally take my first JLPT exam and looking forward to this experience.

Now it’s time to finally finish up those last N4 grammer and vocab points.
