2nd Essay:
山中:お疲れ様です。太田さん、弟さんがいるんだってね。太田:私にとって(1)大事な弟がいるんです。彼が家を出たばかりに(2)家業を継いでいるんです。
Regarding line 2,
- Who left and who inherited the family business?
- If Oota is the who left and not the brother, why is 彼が家を出た used?

I understand the gist of passage 2 (although I will reread it again) but I am very confused at 五人一人当たり. what exactly is being communicated there?
一人当たり literally means “per person”, so: “一人当たり約7万” = “70,000 (yen) per person” and 五人 is just “five people” so “70,000 yen per person for five people”. It’s this grammar point: 当たり | Japanese Grammar SRS
